I know nothing about Electric Guest. Word on the street is their debut album, titled Mondo, is produced by Danger Mouse. This is note-worthy for a handful of reasons, but generally because everything Danger Mouse touches turns to gold. He formed Gnarls Barkley. He formed Broken Bells. Remember that mashup album of Jay-Z’s The Black Album and The Beatles’ White Album? That was him too. He just knows how to put together hit records, whether or not they appeal to the mainstream masses.

Anyways, check out his work with Electric Guest — sounds promising to me.

Terence Ryan, the kid with the impressive video for “Alan’s Right” which we shared with you all last week, just released his full Skeleton EP for the masses. Everything is handled by Mr. Ryan, from the production, to the writing, to the vocals. This is an eye-opening project, especially when you consider that I knew nothing about him whatsoever two weeks ago. The production is crisp, and he sounds like an artist who’s been doing this shit for a while. I’ll definitely keep my eyes open for him down the line.

Echo Boom is gonna be something serious. Seriously, whoever put the connection together that Cris Cab needed to work with Wyclef deserves some kind of award. It’s such a natural, obvious pairing, and “Rihanna’s Gun” is a prime example of why they should continue working together. Did Wyclef toss in a hint of heavy dubstep bass there too? Just for a second? Yes, yes, I believe he did.

Alright my friends, you’re gonna want to mark your calendars for Friday, March 2nd. We teamed up with Neon Gold Records to co-present the Boston leg of their inaugural Neon Gold Tour, which is bound to be something special.

Like last October’s show, we’re bringing The Knocks back to town as the headlining act. On top of that, we have three dynamite opening bands to support them. St. Lucia has been a personal favorite of mine for months now, and they’re fresh off signing their multi-album deal with Columbia Records and Neon Gold. Savoir Adore took the internet machine by storm with “Dreamers”, and they’re known for putting on a hell of a live show. Finally, we have a band coming out of Boston called Magic Man that’s poised to make a run of their own. Long story short, there will be action from 8 p.m. through the entire evening.

If you were involved in The Knocks/Capital Cities show last October, this is a no-brainer. If you didn’t make it to our first event, then this is the opportunity to turn your life around.

Advance tickets just went on sale for $15 — so I’d advise jumping on those and not having to deal with any kind of ticket lines the day of the show. If there are still tickets left on 3/2, they’ll be going for $18 at the door.

That’s about it, I’ll see you fools there in March.

Tennis came out of nowhere and put me back in the 50′s with their release of “Marathon” back in 2010. Since then, they’ve been able to build a significantly loyal fanbase, and they’ve established themselves as one of the premier “indie” bands coming on the scene. They’re gearing up to release their second album Young & Old, and “My Better Self” is a great look into what the album’s got to offer. If you want to add some flare to your music library, your first step should be getting involved with this crew.

Could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I heard this in Scarface the other night on FX. Clearly it wasn’t on the soundtrack, but damn it would fit in perfectly. Or maybe just anything synth-pop oriented would fit in seamlessly in that movie. I just imagine the club scenes with “Rush Rush” blasting in the background, and for whatever reason, some of this modern synth-pop that’s coming out these days has the same vibe. Is that the worst comparison of all time?

Pharrell has his hands in EVERYTHING these days. 75% of the upcoming projects I read about, he’s doing some sort of executive producing — chipping in any way he can. Mansions On The Moon? Check. Cris Cab? Check. Yuna? Yessir. The man has branched out from the hip-hop scene, there’s no question.

I like what’s going on with this track. You can pretty easily tell it’s Pharrell’s beat — very N.E.R.D.-esque, but Yuna’s soft vocals calm it down and make for a soothing listen. Be on the lookout for her upcoming, self-titled album.

For most of us, January equates to frigid temperatures, dry skin, and not a whole lot of vitamin D. Viceroy apparently didn’t get the memo. On his latest remix, the San Francisco native injects Notorious B.I.G.’s anthem with feel-good summery vibes like you read about. Close your eyes for roughly 4 seconds and you’ll be on a beach somewhere warm. That’s the truth.

Star Slinger has a serious cult following. He looks like some kind of earthy geologist, but he makes these dynamite glitchy remixes that people swoon over. My first encounter with him came via his remix of Alex Winston’s “Sister Wife”, and then I was fully sold when I got my ears on “May I Walk With You?”. His music taste and remix resume are outrageously diverse, so I wasn’t surprised in the slightest to see him putting out a little hip-hop mixtape. The tape goes back and forth between his personal remixes and underground hip-hop jams, and I’ve been listening to it straight through with no concept of time. World famous producer Rick Rubin sarcastically proclaimed that he “ruined” this track from Justice in his official remix. Which is funny, because it’s sarcasm.
