“Not My Chair, Not My Problem”

So apparently this guy was trippin’ balls and somebody recorded his rant, then made this brilliant animation to coincide with it…lighthouses rule. Tweet

Mika – We Are Golden

Mika, the London-based singer with the straight up bizarre personality, just released his sophomore album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much.  Here’s his first single, “We Are Golden”…stupidly catchy, good luck not listening to it 10 times in a row. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Chromeo – Night By Night

Chromeo is a Canadian electrofunk band that sounds straight off of the 1980′s dancefloor…but in a cool way, if that’s possible.  Hit up their album Fancy Footwork for a taste of who they are.  They just released their new single “Night By Night”, check it out here: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] A little slice of Fancy Footwork… listen to “Bonafide Lovin”: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Eels

Eels is an American rock band that has a track in virtually every feature film ever made.  You might not always notice their songs…but they feature on more soundtracks than you can think of.  Road Trip, American Beauty, Knocked Up, Shrek 1, 2, 3, Hot Fuzz…they’re all over the place, yet few know who they are. Lollipop (Cover)

this is not new, but very interesting nonetheless. interesting because it seems so rare and difficult to apply a different genre to an existing song. i feel like there’s at least a 98% chance of failure. that said, i’m not a very big lil’ wayne fan, and i definitely do not like his track “lollipop.” then framing hanley came along, turned a rap song into a punk/emo song, and now i’m a huge fan. check it out below. U-N-I

For those who thought LA rap was all the same, think again. U-N-I has loaded up on accolades over the past 2 years– being named “Best Breakout LA Artist” at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, featured in URB Magazine’s “NEXT 1000,” XXL Magazine’s “New Kids in Town,” Billboard Magazine’s “Acts to Watch,”and The Source Magazine’s “Unsigned Hype”.   I still feel their material is being over-looked so I’m spreading the word right here.
