BBU – Chi Don’t Dance

BBU is a new trio coming out of Chicago.  Here’s their anthem that’s slowly takin over: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: BBU – Chi Don’t Dance Tweet

The Big Pink – Dominos

A jam from another band I’ve never come across, kind of a rock/electronic mix…real good tune.  Doing a little homework on what else The Big Pink has to offer, could be back with more from this London duo. As a sidenote, the Chuckness has just gone over 100 posts…get loose and celebrate. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Big Pink – Dominos Tweet

Yes Giantess – Tuff n’ Stuff

I was scouring PrettyMuchAmazing.com’s top songs of 2009 and came across this little piece of brilliance right here from a band I’ve never heard of.  They’re like a techno/synth/futuristic boy band…I know that sounds terrible but I don’t know how else to classify it.  I don’t how it works but I think it does… huge replay value. As Jimbo says, they look like Tufts students, which means they’ve never seen boobs before.  But they make some sick techno beats, which inevitably will bring them boobs.  The world can be kind like that. Sarasine – Untitled

this is some amazing guitar work with an interesting back story. when i first heard this song, it was introduced to me as “stadium arcadium” by the red hot chili peppers – i was almost sold. there’s definitely a strong rhcp guitar style. as an owner of the stadium arcadium cd, i consulted the track list and found this to be incorrect. many youtube discussion threads later, i believe i’ve found the young talent behind this track: a band called Sarasine. what’s amazing is that the guitarist is only 23 years old. what’s even more amazing is that the track … Continue reading

VV Brown – Shark In The Water

This song is absolutely huge, I don’t know what to do with it.  Say what you want, you just can’t deny that this chorus is the epitome of catchy.  I have no idea how I’ve never heard of VV Brown, but I’ll throw money down right now that this becomes a radio smash in the coming months over here in the US.  Apparently it already did pretty well in the UK, she’s just gotta break the US barrier.  While it may be questionable for me to bump this in my Chevy Malibu at a stoplight, I’m entirely comfortable with it…this … Continue reading

Wale Feat. Rihanna- Contemplate

Yet another epic track from Wale Folarin.  This song will be on Attention Deficit and was leaked by a DJ who some how got a hold on the song (as you can tell from the DJ shout outs on the D/L).  A very dark, introspective track that has Rihanna’s vocals from her song “Question Existing” sampled for the chorus.  There’s been plenty of Wale material lately and he announced that he will keep releasing songs until his album comes out to create excitement.  Obviously they won’t be songs on the actual album, just tracks that didn’t make the final cut. … Continue reading

Miike Snow – Animal

I know I did a couple Miike Snow posts a while back, but this is been getting a lot of play over here so it’s worth sharing with you.  Their self-titled album is really something to look into if you haven’t already.  Fell with the initial find. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Wale Feat. Pharrell- Inhibitions (Let it Loose)

The first “official” leak off of Wale’s highly anticipated Attention Deficit.  As you all can probably tell from my previous posts here on The Chuckness, I think Wale is the shit.  I grew up in the DC Metro area and have followed him since his first local smash titled “Dig Dug”, which people outside of DC might not have ever heard.  Today Wale put this track up on his twitter and it is the first song that released unofficially, the others either are not on the album or were put on itunes before they were up for download.  I generally … Continue reading

John Gold – The Flower In My Head

Horrific day for anyone from Boston. In other news, I did a post on John Gold last week…and I’ve just got around to listening to his new album, “A Flower In Your Head”.  The CD is the definition of mellow, and this track is the standout for me so far: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] The guy’s giving away his new album for any price you want on his website…either a great marketing ploy or the worst idea ever.  Regardless, he’s got a really unique sound…check him out. Wale- Fly Away

Mr. Wale Folarin drops another track that did not make the final tracklisting for Attention: Deficit.  Chorus uses the lyrics from that old Lenny Kravitz joint.  Beat is fire and mixes in a little Go-Go flair, and if you do not know what Go-Go is you need to go visit DC for a little bit and get yourself educated.
