Drunk 4 Year Old Steals Christmas: Mother Awarded Best Parenting Skills of 2009
We here at The Chuckness would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays. Here’s hoping that even with family time and holiday gatherings, you all still find a little time to get loose. Take notes from this fellow 4 year old.
I don’t think I could even walk at 4 years old, let alone crack open a brewski, pound half of it, break into my neighbors house completely hamboned, steal their Christmas presents, and put on a dress. This was hilarious until the end, when you find out that he wanted to do bad things so that he could visit his pops in jail…kind of a tearjerker actually. Anyways, happy holidays my loyal Chuckness followers. Faz with the find.

“We Were Once A Fairytale”
This short film, directed by Spike Jonze (director of Where The Wild Things Are), recently released and it’s been getting a lot of buzz around the blogosphere…particularly because it stars Kanye West, of all people. I’m gonna need a lot of input on this, because after first watching it I had absolutely no idea what the encompassing theme was. The video’s really bizarre, so if you make it through all 11 minutes, please let me know what the hell it’s about. I’m guessing it’s a film about keeping your inner ego/demon in check…thus attempting to repair Kanye’s battered image. That’d be kind of weak, but even if it is, the little gnome/gerbil at the end is sweet as hell.

The Incomparable Shakespeare (feat. Oasis) – Wonderwall

Here’s a little gem spotted over at P&P from “The Incomparable Shakespeare”, who I didn’t even know existed. It’s off his latest mixtape entitled The British Invasion, where he flips a bunch of popular British tracks. Here he goes off on everyone’s favorite Oasis ballad, “Wonderwall”…check it out.

Wale- The Meeting (prod. by Osinachi)
Via Elitaste:
So in the spring of 2007, I suggested to Wale that he create an audio manifesto of what he wanted to accomplish as an artist once he signed. DC producer Osinachi, the maestro behind “Nike Boots” who is now part of Rodney Jerkins’ team, blessed Wale with the beat for “The Meeting” and Wale, how do you say, “went in.” This became the first track we played in label meetings and for a time, it was discussed that this would be the intro for Attention Deficit. In retrospect, I think Wale stayed true to the goals set forth in “The Meeting” and you can still hear the hunger in his voice. So 2.5 years later, this track is emancipated. And make sure you cop Attention Deficit if you haven’t done so already.

Simian Mobile Disco- Cruel Intentions (Feat. Beth Ditto)
Simian Mobile Disco is a group I recently got put onto by one of my buddies and their cd Temporary Pleasures is real dope. Check out my favorite song I have heard from them so far and a remix of it that is just as good if not better.

Lil Wayne (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Knockout

What in God’s name is this…
Weezy takes what sounds exactly like a Blink 182 baseline, pounds what must have been roughly 14 gallons of codeine-infused purple drank, and does whatever the fuck he wants in the studio. The final product, plus Nicki Minaj, equals “Knockout”. I honestly don’t know what to make of this, I leave it up to you. For some reason I see this jam being enormous, but I don’t know how or why…it just will be. Does this even qualify as music? Why can’t I stop listening to it?
I find it absolutely fascinating that Wayne is 100% serious about this new sound…but then again, if you’ve seen “The Carter Documentary“, it should come as no surprise to anyone…he’s strictly out of his mind.
Off his upcoming album, Rebirth, obviously. P &P with the enlightenment.

Throwback Thursday: 12/17/09 Edition, Part 2

This heatstick has flown way too far underneath the radar. Listen to the opening few seconds, and you’ll think I’m throwing Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” at you, but think again. In 1998, the duo of Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz dropped “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)”, and while it should’ve changed the world, it was left underappreciated. Do us all a favor and drop this baseline real quick, you’ll be gettin loose in no time.

When we think of the last name Bedingfield these days, we all instantaneously think of Natasha first. How could we not? The pop phenom has let loose bangers like “Unwritten” and “These Words”, what other Bedingfields even come close? If you think back to 2001, however, you will have the pleasure to be reintroduced to her brother, Daniel. Daniel, to my knowledge, has absolutely no other jams except for this display of pure fire. “Gotta Get Thru This” was the #1 song for what seemed like my entire late middle school/early high school career, yet the name Daniel Bedingfield means nothing. Take a moment, and think of this one-hit-wonder, fallen pop icon.

Bring on the homo jokes I’m ready for it. If you can honestly say, being 100% true to yourself, that this jam doesn’t get everybody loose when the baseline drops at 0:37 mark, then you’re out of your mind. I have no fucking idea who Donna Lewis is; who cares? All I know is that at age nine, I distinctly remember thinking this song was the greatest of all time. Whatever the hell I was doing in 1996(most likely playing Super Mario Kart for Super Nintendo), I clearly recall this banger playing a large role in my young adolescent life. Hit it, and reminisce.

Throwback Thursday: 12/17/09 Edition

Today I’m taking everyone back to 1994, when Blues Traveler released their fourth album, appropriately named Four. The album made it #8 on the Billboard charts – not bad for some bros from Princeton, New Jersey. The album became most well known for the track “Run Around” which I’m sure everyone remembers. And that’s why I’m hitting you with the also famous but under appreciated track “Hook” which is just a classic, feel-good jam. So kick back and enjoy.

Matt & Kim – Daylight (Troublemaker Remix)

This song has been entertaining me all day. I absolutely abused the original this past summer, to the point where it’s difficult for me to hear anymore. This remix gives it a nice new twist that allows me to listen to it again. Give it a go; spotted over at P&P.

Wale- Be Right
I posted this song up the other day, but for some reason WordPress tweaked a little bit and took it off. So here is one of the more uplifting jams from Wale that was only available for purchase through Zune…again.
