Lupe Fiasco- Enemy Of The State: A Love Story (Mixtape)

Lupe Fiasco dropped this over Thanksgiving and apparently has much more coming soon.  According to LupEND the next mixtape will drop on Christmas Day.  Apparently the fact that Lupe was not on MTV’s Hottest MC’s list really pissed him off, because this shit is dope. Wale- Diary (Acoustic Version)

Wale – “Diary” (Acoustic Version) Prod. The Sleepwalkers from The Sleepwalkers on Vimeo. The producers of the track “Diary” off of Wale’s critically acclaimed album Attention Deficit took the original song and made an acoustic version.  When I first saw the teaser I loved it because it is always crazy to get a look at the whole process behind making the music that we love to listen to.  The product is an unbelieveable rendition of an already beautiful song, the question remains if the original or the acoustic is better.  I’ll let you decide… Download: Wale- “Diary” (Acoustic Version) Prod. … Continue reading

This Just In: The Chuckness Hits New Demographic

That’s right – nursing mothers cannot get enough of The Chuckness. I’m doing my best to act surprised, but I think we all saw this coming. These soccer moms are busy playing chauffeur for their kids, so they hit up The Chuckness for the freshest jams to keep the car rides interesting. Now their next nursing bra from Target is just one click away while they wait for the latest Chiddy Bang track to finish buffering. Disagree? Take it up with Google. Speaking of Chiddy Bang, Chuck and I ventured to New York this weekend and heard “Kids” come on … Continue reading

Pursuit of Happiness (Steve Aoki Remix)

I’ve never messed with Steve Aoki before, and I’m not usually huge on dance remixes to songs I already enjoy, but Mr. Aoki absolutely crushes this take on Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness”.  Take a look.  Props to P&P. Tiger Woods Voicemail Slowjam

I don’t know when people will get sick of this story, but it’s not happening anytime soon.  Gone are the days when you just get abused in the newspapers, instead you get destroyed by extremely creative, Marvin-Gaye style remixes of your controversial voicemails.  Awesome, just awesome. Tweet

Throwback Thursday Pt. 2

I was blown away by Jimbo’s alliteration skills earlier today, and I felt I needed to follow up his post with some Throwback Thursday tracks of my own.  I am 110% confident that these three jams have never in their lifetime been grouped together, so I’m proud to say that we’re all witnessing history.  Blind Melon, the duo of Joe and Mystikal and The Violent Femmes are one at last. Track 1: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] “No Rain” came up on shuffle out of nowhere during my drive into work today, as if it knew it was … Continue reading

Eminem – Elevator

Looks exactly like the face of a kid who would turn into one of the most famous rappers of all time.  Here’s a new cut off Eminem’s re-release of his last album, Relapse. The new album, entitled Refill, features a few new tracks, and is set to drop on December 21st.  Found over at P&P. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Eminem – Elevator Tweet

Chip Tha Ripper – Feel Good

Mixtapes are awesome, primarily because they’re free.  Sometimes though, I really don’t feel like spending an hour or two going through an artist’s mixtape who I’m not entirely familiar with.  I’d much rather someone do the hard work for me, and just tell me which jams are money and which are a waste of time.  The man behind Pigeons and Planes has done this for me, and thus I immediately was in possession of the best songs off Chip Tha Ripper’s new mixtape.  I’m not that familiar with him, although I know he featured on “Hyerr” off Cudi’s album.  This … Continue reading

Throwback Thursday – Jurassic 5

I’d like to introduce you to Throwback Thursday. Why? Because we believe that as important as it is to promote and search for the freshest jams out there, it’s important to come back to our roots from time to time – recognize the songs and artists that have shaped our musical taste. And also because the alliteration is undeniable. This week I pay tribute to Jurassic 5. There is not another musical group in existence with as much rhythm as these guys. Sure, they have rhythm individually, but what’s most impressive is their collective rhythm. Every track they put out … Continue reading

Alexi Murdoch – Orange Sky

Beginning in college, I went through a phase of creating and updating “immediate sleep playlists”.  The playlists are meant to do exactly what you would think, which is to deliver you in your REM sleep state as fast as possible.  Personal favorites of my immediate sleep collection have been posted previously, so check out Explosions in the Sky and Bon Iver for a taste. My friend Decent was a huge proponent of the sleep playlists, and he played a large role in finding some of the insanely obscure sleep songs.  The other day he hit me with an artist that … Continue reading
