I was blown away by Jimbo’s alliteration skills earlier today, and I felt I needed to follow up his post with some Throwback Thursday tracks of my own. I am 110% confident that these three jams have never in their lifetime been grouped together, so I’m proud to say that we’re all witnessing history. Blind Melon, the duo of Joe and Mystikal and The Violent Femmes are one at last.

“No Rain” came up on shuffle out of nowhere during my drive into work today, as if it knew it was Throwback Thursday, and was demanding a spot on The Chuckness. Great song all the way around.

I remember this jam being massive in 8th grade. Shit popped off when this beat came on over the speakers Friday nights at Teen Center…absolutely buckwild. The parent chaperones were desperately trying to stop all 13 year old boys from dryhumping everything in sight, but it was impossible to contain. Innocent little middle schoolers instantly began grinding the shit out of each other when this gem came on, and there was nothing any parental units could do. Joe and Mystikal, I salute you.

Unbelievably catchy song, another recent shuffle rediscovery. To this day I still have never heard of the Violent Femmes, but when “Blister in the Sun” comes on, everybody remembers it. It’s one of those instantly recognizable songs, yet nobody knows who it’s by…perfect for a Chuckness Throwback Thursday.
