We were slacking last week when it came to Throwback Thursday, and the people were pissed.  The people being our 10 fans.  I wanted to make sure I threw something at you all this week, so I’ve been digging tirelessly through the archives to come up with three prime throwback gems that you all forgot existed.  All three of these jams are polar opposites of each other, yet each and every one is a banger in it’s own, unique way.  So let’s get it:

Go West – King of Wishful Thinking (1990)

You gotta love old school album covers.  Two bros just casually standing in what looks like horribly Photoshopped fake rain, contemplating life as a whole.  And the best part is that this shit was POWERFUL when people first saw it, like Pulitzer-prize winning art.  Their jam “King of Wishful Thinking” doesn’t quite compete with the album cover, but it’s no slouch either.  It’s  the ultimate 80′s track, it’s got everything and anything you could want…even though it was released in 1990.  Huge chorus, catchy ass drums laced in the background; Go West kills it.

Mobb Deep – Shook Ones Pt. II (1995)

Mobb Deep rattled the rap world with this perfectly crafted anthem in ’95.  There’s something about the beat that makes it haunting yet chilled out at the same time.  If you’re entirely out of the loop, you might recognize the beat from 8 Mile, where Eminem ( B Rabbit!!!) gets up on stage at the end and crushes his freestyle opponent.  Anyways, this song has yet to get old for me, even at it’s 5:26 running time.  Bring back the memories and hit play.

Soul Decision – Faded (2000)

Yes it’s questionable in it’s sexual orientation, but damn this is such an underrated jam.  It took me like 3 hours to even scrounge up a picture of these dudes, it’s like they never existed.  Aside from “Faded”, they didn’t really exist, so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.  I don’t know if they qualify as a “boy-band”, I’m gonna go with no just to cover my ass; either way this song is a pure gem.  Poor decision by the mysterious rapper who jumps on this for all of 10 seconds though, definitely lost respect from everyone in the music world…he’s like the 90′s version of that rapper on the Jonas Brothers jam.  Whatever gets them radio play I guess.
