A friend of mine recently hit me up looking for suggestions for his upcoming baseball season’s walk-up song. If you find yourself out of the loop here, the walk-up song is the jam that’s blasted over the speakers as a batter walks to the plate, and it’s arguably the most important facet of a player’s game. It’s representative of the player’s state of mind, and can be utilized as a devastating intimidation factor.
You might be asking yourself, why is this suburban Holy Cross baseball player side by side in a photo with Wale? Not only do they share similar physical attributes, but Matty P. has Wale’s “Nike Boots” as his top walk-up pick right now. If unfamiliar, this is the jam that put Wale on the map outside of D.C.; give it a listen below:

Definitely a solid pick as a walk-up jam, there’s no doubt about it…but I think we can do even better. First of all, this isn’t just an ordinary college baseball player, so we can’t just go with an ordinary jam…Matty P deserves perfection. The kid hit .423 with 7 dingers and 37 RBIs, and he needs a banger to coincide with his dominance.
Hit me with some recommendations in the comment section.

Here are 3 suggestions for Matt’s walk-up song. Each song has a high energy beginning to get the crowd juiced-up.
When you were young-The Killers
Layla-Derek and The Dominoes
Born To Run-Bruce Springsteen
I know they are “old-school”, but I’m old school!
Infinity 2008.
i really like the whale track for perry, i think that is a great start, but perhaps it is a little too cocky. i like my suggestion below for this stud
see me shine by bone thugs n-harmony ft. jay rush and lyfe jennings
not only do i love this beat (and i still jam to it on a daily basis), the chorus is nuts. being that matty p is clearly the most potent hitter in the lineup, the words are true to his presence cuz there is no way in hell the opposition wants to see this freak at the plate shine. they want him to “stay away, fade away…” from them (another great line in the tune, but prob not a good part for the intro to him walk-up). when perry shines, the cross wins, so simply put, “they dont wanna see [perry} shine”
Drop The World – Wayne
Amazing – Kanye
Money to Blow – Drake
Beautiful Day – Gym Class Heroes
Forgot about Cudi… i think most of his CD would be dope for this…How long does a typical “walk-up” song play?
cant forget about the edited version of “Make it Rain”
anything with weezy on it is incredible
ugly girls be quiet, pretty girls clap clap like this
