Yeasayer – O.N.E.

Awesome song off of Yeasayer’s most recent album, Odd Blood.  As we’re all well aware, the band is mind-bendingly (should be a word) bizarre.  “O.N.E.” is hands down the most “radio-friendly” song I’ve heard from the group.  Just got back from a little 5 hour drive down to the beautiful Lehigh Valley, and this jam must have had 75 plays. The album as a whole is a little too trippy for me, but “O.N.E.” is definitely a flash of brilliance. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Yeasayer – O.N.E. Tweet

K’naan – Wavin’ Flag (Celebration Remix)

K’naan is one of the more underrated artists out there, and he finally got a huge break that should give him the worldwide praise he deserves.  “Wavin’ Flag” off of his latest, unbelievable album Troubador, has been selected as the official anthem of the 2010 World Cup.  So naturally, he beefed up the song a bit to fit the soccer world’s needs, and it will serve as the official jam for the CocaCola/World Cup campaign.  It was an amazing song before and the re-worked version is just as good.  Check it out- [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: … Continue reading

J. Cole – Knock On Wood

One of the more hyped up-and-comers in 2010 (not sure if he even qualifies as a rookie anymore) takes the beat from Common and John Mayer’s “Go!” and puts his own spin on it.  I remember being let down when that song first dropped just because it was beyond repetitive…but I’m liking what J. Cole did to this. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: J. Cole – Knock On Wood Tweet

Yes Giantess – Ruins

Yes Giantess, a relatively unknown pop band out of Boston, has been making some significant moves lately.  I first caught wind of them over at PMA when they posted their synthesized, catchy jam “Tuff N’ Stuff”.  It immediately became one of my favorite songs of the year, and continues to get consistent spins.  Since then, they’ve hit the tour circuit with La Roux (ginger), and are about to release their second disc, The Ruins.  “Ruins” is definitely different from the other material I’ve heard from the band, but the absurdly repeatable chorus is still there.  Enjoy. Big Sean – Supa Dupa Lemonade

I’ll give you a second or two to recover from my filthy Photoshop skills.. This released like two weeks ago, and I downloaded it, but for some reason it just sat in my iTunes unplayed.  I threw it on the other day for the first time and have been listening to it consistently ever since.  Big Sean should have a huge 2010, he’s got a ton of potential and is signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music label.  Here he takes Gucci Mane’s “Lemonade” beat and does some damage…he’s got this combination of a laid back flow with witty rhymes that I … Continue reading

Wiz Khalifa- This Plane (video)

Here is the video for Wiz Khalifa’s lead single, “This Plane”, off of his album Deal or No Deal.  Wiz has been building a pretty big buzz with this album, and it is definitely justified.  I have been listening to the album pretty heavy lately and he is for sure an independent artist that everyone should support.  It is pretty crazy how artists can build such big followings now-a-days and they do not even need the support of a major label.  This makes it much more impressive to me because it comes from hard work and talent, not just marketing … Continue reading

B.o.B- Down For Y’all

B.o.B decided to bless all of us with a free leak in honor of his debut album, The Adventures Of Bobby Ray, being pushed up to be released on April 27th.   I can not wait for this album, gonna be dope. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: B.o.B- Down For Y’all Tweet

Lupe Fiasco – What U Want

“What U Want” is the first confirmed track off of Lupe’s next, and potentially final album, Lasers.  There is a ton of fake Lupe material out there that everyone says will feature on his new album, but this track is the real deal.  Thank God, because a lot of the non-official tracks just weren’t doing it for me.  This right here, however, definitely has what I’m looking for.  Kind of sounds like he’s emulating Kid Cudi a bit; he’s clearly switched up his style, and I dig it.  Check it out, let me know what you think. UPDATE: Lupe actually … Continue reading

The White Panda- Shake Drop On Video (Mash-Up)

I just recently heard this crazy mash-up by The White Panda, and I am very impressed.  Mash-ups are always very hit or miss so I love when I get my hands on a good one.  The song mashes up Timbaland, Ying Yang Twins, Pitbull, and Trans X.  Sounds ridiculous but the finished product is great. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The White Panda- Shake Drop On Video I found the song  in a ski edit featuring Tom Wallisch riding the best park in the country, Breckenridge.  The song fits perfectly with the video so check it out: … Continue reading

jj – And Now

Here’s some new trippy ass/catchy jj from their upcoming album jj nº 3. This band is really growing on me…don’t get me wrong it’s beyond different and it’s kind of tough to warm up to… but hey, a little Swedish music never hurt anybody.
