This has been a long time coming. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have established a name for themselves strictly through quality, relatable music and a striking grassroots marketing effort. Starting in Seattle and spreading across the globe, everything they’ve done, they’ve done on their own. No help from a major label, no help from popular producers of the moment — what you hear in the lyricism and delivery is 100% Macklemore, and what you hear in the production is solely Ryan Lewis. Together, they’ve created one of the more rabid, underground cult fanbases in today’s music scene. The debut album that the cohesive duo has been working on for years is slated to be released on October 9th, and NPR has graciously published a full stream on their website.

After one listen of The Heist, it’s beyond evident that these two are bound for glory. They don’t need a major label, they don’t need anyone else’s help whatsoever. This is just the beginning.
