The Black Keys are known for strong opinions and captivating live performances. I’ve never had the opportunity to see them live, but from what I’ve heard they’re one of the best in the business at working a crowd. El Camino continues to get a ton of play over here, and “Gold On The Ceiling” is a prime culprit for this. Check the official visuals for the duo’s jam below. Tweet

Let’s all put on our favorite v-necks, cardigans, and skinny jeans and listen to the new Tennis album together. WHO’S IN?!? While they’re a hipster’s dream, the Denver husband/wife duo actually put out some great music. They grabbed my attention initially with “Marathon”, and since then I’ve been a certified fan. On top of being a hipster’s dream, they’re also generally loved by rappers — as they’re straight sample machines. Anyways, stream their new album in it’s entirety below — let me know how it treats you. Tweet

Walk The Moon had one of the more electrifying, under-the-radar tracks of 2011 with “Anna Sun”. The fact that this song didn’t propel them to instant international success is borderline blasphemy, but wait — they seem to following the Foster The People script. “Pumped Up Kicks” came out almost a good two YEARS before it ever caught on nationally. Thankfully, they took their time, released a mini EP, and a great album in Torches to back up the catchy single. Tomorrow comes the release of the Anna Sun EP, which will serve as a key stepping stone in this band’s success. … Continue reading →

The Knocks dropped some hints over the weekend that they had a “Midnight City” remix on the way, and today they released it to the masses. Let’s be honest here, M83′s anthem is arguably the most remixed track of 2011, and I don’t think anybody wakes up in the morning waiting for another take on the song. That being said, The Knocks have brought in a girl by the name of Mandy Lee for the vocals, taking the track in a completely different direction than what was anticipated. Undoubtedly worth a listen. Tickets still on sale for the 3/2 show … Continue reading →

Here we are two weeks from the last Fortnight installment, and as is the new tradition, DJ B-Rob has graced us with a new mix comprised of some of our favorite tracks from the past 14 days. A simple, smooth, 22-minute version of the best of the past two weeks on the site. Toss in some creative, relevant Photoshop work — and we have ourselves sitting on a goldmine. Gotta love the fistpump from the Captain. Not gonna see any of those from him anytime soon. Per usual, tracklist after the jump.
Here we have the official video for Miike Snow’s infectious “Paddling Out”, off their upcoming album — and it’s weird as HELL. It begins with an empty whiskey bottle on the ground, labeled “Banana Juice” — and continues to follow some overweight version of William H. Macy in Shameless as he gets grotesquely operated on by a crew of horrifying Quaker-like young girls. Dancing is involved. So yeah, that is all. Check it out. Tweet

Everyone knows the “cool” thing to do these days is to bash this girl like it’s nobody’s business. Her debut album Born To Die has been panned by critics near and far (unjustly, in my mind), and she didn’t exactly set the right precedent with her sub-par SNL performance. The thing is, she has a ton of talent — and people refuse to accept it. You don’t necessarily have to like her music, but I think it’s fair to say that you have to accept that she’s talented. Confusion over at Pigeons & Planes already said everything that I wanted to say … Continue reading →

Everybody knows the Grammy’s are a miserable representation of music, but this commercial right here is a 30 second definition of how huge 2011 was for Skrillex, and all of electronic music in general. I used to bump “With You, Friends” randomly before work last winter (remember this story??) — but I really couldn’t handle anything else on Skrillex’s EP, it was too aggressive and bizarre for me. Fast-forward 12 months, he’s the face of the Grammy’s in a 30-second ad spot, and I’ve been turned into a certified fan. There is no one in the music world that had … Continue reading →
