The time is nigh my friends. The time is nigh. In a matter of hours, Jimbo, myself and two more of our friends are taking off for Ft. Lauderdale in preparation for Holy Ship. The boat departs tomorrow at 5 p.m., and returns Monday morning. During this time period, please do not expect any form of human contact from us, as we’ll be too busy getting DJ lessons from A-Trak, winning millions in Steve Aoki’s Poker Palace, or doing backflips into the Atlantic Ocean as Skrillex drops “Summit” on our domes. Miami native Cris Cab recently linked up with his co-signer Pharrell in the studio, and we have one of the results for you below. “One Thing” sticks to the reggae/pop vibe that’s been one of the central pieces in propelling his buzz. Not quite what I expected from a Pharrell collaboration, but it’s cool to see them both adapting their sound. A new track off of Mansions On The Moon’s debut album Lightyears was just released, and it’s glorious. Am I the only one getting a bizarre Simon & Garfunkel vibe here?? The disparity between all of their songs is beyond impressive — everything sounds completely different. On this one, they’re going for the laid back, musical Valium style, and it works out perfectly. It’s about that time for a little synthed-out indie jam from a 6-piece crew out of Portland, Oregon. Adventure Galley put their talents on full display with “Addict”, somewhat reminiscent of MGMT before they got too bake-aked and strayed away from their established sound on their second album. The most hyped New Years event this year was hands down Avicii live at Pier 94 in New York City. Somehow, my legendary cousin managed to sneak in, and he confirmed that it was absolute mayhem. Guilty pleasure city on this one. 2AM Club enlists the help of Chiddy to toss in a couple of verses on top of their “Every Evening” flamboyant soother. Good (I think?) to see Chiddy branching out from working with Xaphoon a bit — he did a little work with VV Brown on “Children” back in 2011 as well.
