AudioDax – Matter of Time

I don’t know what’s in the air on college campuses these days, but kids are finding each other, combining forces, and dropping fresh tracks like crazy.  From Chiddy Bang to Mike Posner, to the most recent post from Reinvention, the college dorm room has become the new music studio.  This one is my new favorite from a duo out of DePauw University in Indiana.  An addictive beat with some smooth flow laid down on top of it has made “A Matter of Time” my new jam.  Pick it up. VV Brown – Crazy Amazing

I was immediately a fan of the British VV Brown when I first heard “Shark in the Water” last fall.  The hook on that jam was with me for months.  VV just recently dropped her debut studio album entitled Traveling Like The Light in the US, and she’s hoping to make a splash on this side of the pond.  If anybody ever played the piano, the first legitimate song they were able to lay down was “Heart and Soul”…end of story.  Anybody who knows how to play the piano knows how to play “Heart and Soul”, and VV Brown takes … Continue reading

Nas & Damian Marley – Patience

Here’s yet another track off of the upcoming album Distant Relatives from Nas and Damian Marley.  I’m all over the vibe and feel of this album from the three tracks I’ve heard so far…it’s mellow hip-hop/reggae with a purpose, and it’s doing good things for me.  When I first heard “Road to Zion” off Damian Marley’s solo album, I was sold on the fact that this duo could do big things.  Expect the album to be released on May 18th. Vampire Weekend – Everywhere (Cover)

I spotted this cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” over on The Hype Machine, and if you’re a Vampire Weekend fan, it’ll fit your needs quite well.  If you’re not a Vampire Weekend fan, well, then this jam probably won’t convert you.  It’s tough to cover all aspects of the music scene, as some people are strict on liking certain genres, whether it be hip-hop, techno, indie music, whatever.  I try my best to grab different tracks from all genres of music and post them up here; if I think it’s good music, then it’s deserving of a post.  Regardless, for … Continue reading

M.I.A. – XXXO

M.I.A. just recently leaked a CDQ version of what sounds like her first single off of her upcoming album, which is currently untitled.  As expected, the shit is immensely bizarre, but it sounds like it has potential to be a hit.  Everything I’ve heard from M.I.A has always been weird as hell, “Paper Planes” was thought of the same way until it caught on like wildfire.  I’m gonna give this several more spins before I finalize an opinion on it… Oh, and above is M.I.A.’s promotional image for her new material…shit is beyond strange.  I really want to stop looking … Continue reading

Reinvention (feat. Florence & the Machine) – Forgot

Reinvention is a duo hailing from Drexel in Philadelphia (the same school where Chiddy Bang was created), and they attempt a similar style in flipping indie tracks into fresh beats.  Here they sample  Florence and the Machine’s  track, “Swimming”, a popular UK indie track, and the results are pretty fresh.  I found myself continuously listening to it over the past couple of days.  They’re no Chiddy Bang, but it’s good music nonetheless.  Spotted over at P&P. Dizzee Rascal – Holiday

First off, my apologies for slacking with the blog game lately.  Just got back from a little vacation spent at my alma mater, and I selfishly didn’t post a single track in the 5 days I was there.  Not that there’s been a lot of fire floating around (I’m still blasting The Cataracs’ “Undercover” and B.o.B.’s The Adventures of Bobby Ray non-stop), but feeding the fans with no new/blog-worthy music for an extended period of time just isn’t right.  So for that, I apologize. However, I wasn’t completely slacking while down in Bethlehem, PA…  I kept my ears open just … Continue reading

The Cataracs – Undercover

This jam has been floating around for a little bit now, and I never got around to giving it a spin.  Entirely my bad…”Undercover” is pure electro-pop magic.  From the first tone you know it’s just gonna be catchy as hell and unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about it.  The Cataracs consist of a young duo out of the San Francisco bay area…they recently signed to an indie record label and are cranking out their first album.  Be on the lookout in the future…if they whip up anything remotely close to this down the road, they’ll be a household … Continue reading

Ratatat – “Drugs” & “Neckbrace”

The instrumental super-power Ratatat just dropped two new tracks from their upcoming album LP4, due out this June.  I have yet to be disappointed by a Ratatat track; it’s amazing what they do without any lyrics.  Their album Classics is arguably the greatest driving music of all time.  If you’re going on a lengthy road-trip, Classics is a must.  The beauty of their beats is that they’re catchy and addictive whether or not there’s someone rapping over them.  Thousands of Ratatat remixes are floating around the internet, with today’s top rappers going in over the duo’s synthesized beats; but I … Continue reading

Theophilus London – I Want You (Mixtape)

Theophilus London dropped his most recent mixtape the other day entitled I Want You. I haven’t listened to the entire thing yet, mainly because the jam below, “Sorry To Interrupt”, is the third track and I can’t get past it.  The guy just has a sweet way of intertwining electronic/soul/hip-hop into one genre, and so far I can’t get enough.  The mixtape in its entirety can be downloaded for free HERE.  Check out “Sorry to Interrupt” below.
