Childish Gambino – Bonfire

A snippet of this new Childish Gambino track surfaced last week, and then a radio rip made it’s way onto the interwebs. I held off posting, in hopes that the CDQ would find it’s way to the masses — and that’s what happened today. This is the first look at his upcoming, full-length album Camp, and it’s filled with his furious wordplay that we’ve come to expect. A great preview of things to come. Frank Ocean – Swim Good (Official Video)

One of my favorite tracks of 2011 now has some official visuals to accompany it, and they’re bizarre to say the least. We’re working with a panda mask, a samurai sword, and some car explosions in this one. Keep doing you Frank. Shout out to Jimbo for holding the site down on Friday while I live the dream down in tax-free Delaware for the weekend. Tweet

DEVolution (feat. Amy Pearson) – Good Love (Alesso Remix)

Another fire-inducing electronic jam here; in similar vein to that of the explosive “Calling”, posted a couple of weeks ago. Alesso knows what he’s doing with these remixes; and “Good Love” is no different. As a heads up, give this one the typical minute to build up, but you already knew that. Hit the stream below and support him on iTunes. A free download would be sweet; but then I’d have Seal Team 6 at my door. Apologies in advance. Tweet

MGMT – All We Ever Wanted Was Everything (Bauhaus Cover)

A Kanye West muppet show, creepy MGMT covers — let’s keep Thursday weird. The psychedelic duo recently put together a mixtape of sorts, their installment of LateNightTales, which consists of all sorts of bizarre shit. Included in the collection is this cover of “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything” — and if you’re looking to get mellow immediately, this should help your cause. [via Pitchfork] Tweet

Footage From Kanye West’s Failed Comedy Central Puppet Show

Back in 2008, Kanye West and Chicago rapper Rhymefest worked with Jimmy Kimmel’s production company to put together a current, urban puppet show a la Crankyankers. Called Alligator Boots, the Comedy Central show never made it past the pilot stage. The director of the show just recently compiled the 10-minute bit above highlighting some of the pilot’s footage. After watching it, it’s entirely understandable why this never made it; but there are hints of greatness hidden underneath the complete lack of direction. Maybe this video will cause a public outcry demanding that they make a season. Probably not. [via Hypetrak] Tweet

J. Cole (feat. Jay-Z) – Mr. Nice Watch

J. Cole’s debut album is one of the most hyped of the year. Cole World: The Sideline Story will put to rest the endless debate journalists, bloggers and fans have about whether or not Cole is marketable enough to make it huge.  He just released “Mr. Nice Watch” himself today, and this track settles the debate for me entirely. This shit is the real deal. An infectious chorus and an explosive Jay-Z feature definitely help his situation. Is it all that you’d hoped for? Album due out September 27th. As always, hit the lyrical breakdowns at Rap Genius. [Audio clip: … Continue reading

Outasight – Loosen Up

Warner Brothers Records signee, Outasight, has consistently been dishing out tracks to the blogosphere for a while now. “Loosen Up” is his most recent, and it incorporates all of his token styles that we’ve become used to from the Yonkers native. A good listen — pick it up below. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Outasight – Loosen Up Tweet

Reader E-Mail: Problem With “N****s In Paris” Lyric

So I get the below e-mail randomly today and was absolutely dying, I had no choice but to post it. Read on. ——————————————————————————————————————————– Look, I know this is a little unorthodox, but I just needed to rant about something and I knew that you might share the same issue. My issue is with a lyric in “Niggas in Paris.” Now I know that I am no lyricist, and I am never one to question Kanye West’s abilities, but this one has me baffled. “Prince Williams ain’t do it right if you ask me, cause I was him I would have … Continue reading

Cris Cab – Pumped Up Kicks (Cover)

Good to hear from Cris Cab again; it’s been a bit since we’ve had some new material from the young Miami native. This time around he infuses Foster The People’s summer smash “Pumped Up Kicks” with his reggae flair, and the results are a perfect change of pace. Watch the video, and add it to your libraries via the download below. Download: Cris Cab – Pumped Up Kicks (Cover) Tweet

Florence + The Machine – Shake It Out

The second look into Florence + The Machine’s anticipated sophomore album, Ceremonials, comes in the way of this huge, huge anthem. “Shake It Out” is arguably the most grandiose sounding track I’ve heard from the band — and that includes their smash hit “Dog Days Are Over”. Everything about this just screams next level. If this is any indication, look for their next album to explode on the scene. In the meantime, stream it below, and pick up the new single on iTunes.
