Yellow Ostrich – Marathon Runner (Official Video)

Emergency style adjustments need to made this weekend. Currently scouring eBay for one of those steezed out American flag windbreaker/jacket garments, along with a gold-plated incognito mask. Outfit just oozes power.  Actually now that I think of it, a certain teenage phenomenon pulled off half of this look a few months back and killed the game. Anyways, incognito masks aside — this song continues to blow me away. You’d think in today’s age of complete musical attention deficit disorder I’d move on after a month or two of listening to the same song (hit the original post here), but I … Continue reading

The Temper Trap – Need Your Love

The Temper Trap were catapulted to borderline absurd levels of popularity with the help of “Sweet Disposition” and their debut album Conditions back in 2009. Looking back, I pretty much said this exact same sentence when I posted “Rabbit Hole”, a first look off of their new album. Fast-forwarding to the chase here: “Need Your Love” is the title track, and it’s unfairly addictive. Working on my fourth spin over here, and there are no signs of slowing down. Stream only unfortunately; but keep an eye out for the album release on June 5th. Tweet

KO KO – So Strange

A couple weeks ago, KO KO’s “Float” seemingly came out of nowhere and lit a fire under the blogosphere. After doing further research, it’s apparent that this jam is not the L.A. siblings’ only weapon in their arsenal. Their jarringly addictive debut EP is home to “So Strange” as well — which in my book is just as noteworthy as “Float”, if not more so. For whatever reason, I’m getting vibes of Bloc Party’s “So Here We Are”, which is still a song that I find myself coming back to after 5+ years later. In other words, “So Strange” immediately … Continue reading

Queen of Hearts – Neon

Ruh roh. Might have a new British dime on my hands — all credit due to All Things Go. The DC natives are gearing up for the official 7″ release of “Neon” on May 14th, and they’ve graced us with an exclusive stream of the title track beforehand. With a chorus that infiltrated my dome at record speed, I’m here to state that I couldn’t be more on board. More club-oriented than say, my other British, electro-folk star Ellie Goulding — yet not even close to a generic dance track — it seems that Queen of Hearts is onto something … Continue reading

Frank Ocean – Whip Appeal (SBTRKT Edit)

The masked man SBTRKT recently took to one of Frank Ocean’s random releases, and adds his sought after remix touch to the already addictive original. I meant to see SBTRKT live in Boston but never pulled through on tickets — has anyone seen this guy’s live show? Heard it’s unreal — I could do “Never, Never” all day. [Pitchfork] Tweet

Miike Snow – Paddling Out (Penguin Prison Remix)

Happy To You is pretty much the only album I’m listening to from start to finish these days. About as stellar of a sophomore album that you can have, in my book. With all the love it’s getting, it’s only natural for the remix treatment to kick into high gear. Penguin Prison (behind the crack that is “Don’t Fuck With My Money”) is the latest to take on the job — and they effortlessly make “Paddling Out” a late 70′s disco anthem complete with blazing sirens. Sign me up. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Miike Snow – … Continue reading

J. Cole – Sideline Story (Official Video)

The mass traffic influx to view the official visuals for J. Cole’s “Sideline Story” just crashed Life + Times, Jay-Z’s blog. I didn’t realize people still had that kind of love for music videos these days. If you haven’t given this album a thorough listen, you’re cheating yourself — I just recently got back into it, and it still holds up — one of my favorites from last year for sure. Tweet

Xaphoon Jones – Stay Schemin’ (Remix)

Xaphoon you crazy. The producer side of Chiddy Bang let go a random remix he had in the vault in celebration of hitting 40,000 followers on Twitter. With a glitchy, captivating beat — Xaphoon takes Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin” and lights a fire under it. Better than the original? Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Victory Lap (Official Video)

These two don’t take their musical videos lightly. Every single one they put out is creative as hell and beyond professional. This one right here though — man, this makes you root for them even harder. They’ve had an unbelievable year — but to be honest, I think we’re all still underestimating how huge they’re going to be. It goes without saying that I’m pulling for them every step of the way. Hit the post from yesterday for the download of “Victory Lap”. Tweet

Scissor Sisters – Only The Horses

Apologies in advance for this. It took about three spins for “Only The Horses” to be a certified addiction in my world, and I expect it’ll do the same on your end. The album art is hysterical, but every time I attempted to grab it from Google Images I ended up on “gay.net” or “homorazzi.com”. True story. So…we’ll just leave that as it is I guess eh? Alright cool. Anyways, this was co-produced by Calvin Harris and Boys Noize, so it didn’t take much for it to be a certified smash. The YouTube lyrics video is all we got for … Continue reading
