The Knocks- Blackout (Xaphoon Jones Remix)

For the loyal fanbase out there, I’m working a lot during the daytime this summer, so I’m lacking the free time to post that I used to have during the college glory days.  This summer, I’ll be posting more at night, so check the site after the sun sets if you need some of my style.  This past week I’ve been trying to get re-adjusted to my summer schedule, so apologies for the lack of posts…but there has been a ton of good music going around so I have some gems up my sleeve.  Finally, I did change my name … Continue reading

A-Trak- Dirty South Dance 2 (Mixtape)

Here is a brand new mixtape from A-track called Dirty South Dance 2.  I have not listened to the whole thing yet, but there are definitely some good joints on here.  My favorite is  track 8, titled “Carte Blanche”.  Enjoy… Tweet

Johnny Cupcakes in Washington D.C

So I  went to see Johnny Cupcakes at  Georgetown Cupcake in D.C. and it  was an awesome time.  I picked up some limited/exclusive tees and got to meet Johnny and his staff.  If you do not know who Johnny Cupcakes is, he  is a super dope entrepreneur that started his own clothing line with all limited edition shirts.  His background story is very cool and pretty inspiring.  Johnny was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008 by BusinessWeek and it was definitely unique to see a man who runs a multi-million dollar clothing company stand outside for hours and talk … Continue reading

Dead Prez- The Beauty Within

Dead Prez decided to give everyone a little treat for Mother’s Day yesterday and give out a piece from his upcoming mixtape with DJ Drama.  The song is over B.o.B’s hit single, “Nothin’ On You”, and the mixtape, titled Revolutionary But Gangsta Grillz, is dropping June 10th. Random Gems From My iTunes

So I got back in D.C. this past Tuesday and have been working like crazy all week, hence the lack of posts recently.  But I will get away from my lame excuses and back to the music.  These songs are all just tracks I aquired in random places, but they all fell into the depths of my iTunes and I recently rediscovered them.  There is a good mixture of jams…Enjoy Big Sean- Made (Feat. Drake) I am not sure if this track is off of Big Sean’s debut or not, but it is still pretty good. [Audio clip: view full … Continue reading

Deadmau5- Some Chords

Some new Deadmau5 that he has been playing at all of his recent shows.  The picture above shows the epic new light cube that Mau5 debuted at Coachella.  If you have not seen him live yet, next time Deadmau5 comes to your town….go.  One of the best live sets out there in my opinion…Enjoy Download: Deadmau5- Some Chords [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Wale x 13th Witness x Belvedere Vodka

This video showcases Wale’s performance at Coachella and how he had to run a mile in the desert to make it on stage.  Self proclaimed Mr. NoDaysOff teams up with 13thWitness (one of the illest photographers) who shot the whole video which is put together by Belvedere Vodka. Tweet

Eminem- Not Afraid (prod. Boi 1da)

Eminem drops  his first single from Recovery (Drops June 22nd) on The Morning After w/Angela Yee.  Em goes in on his life in general and his sobriety, amongst some other deep topics.  Produced by Boi 1da (the mastermind behind Drake’s smashes “Best I Ever Had”, “Forever” and “Over”), this is an uplifting track that gets me beyond excited for Recovery.  This is the type of Em that I love to hear; Relapse was filled with his fake Arabian voice and it got old after a while.  This track right here is why people love Eminem, and it shows why he’s … Continue reading

Drake – Find Your Love (prod. Kanye West)

Here is the second single for Drake’s first album, Thank Me Later, as well as the first track to surface  from the work he did with Kanye in the studio.  This song shows Drake’s R&B side and it is pretty damn good, or much better than I thought it would be when I read yesterday that this track would  be 100% singing.  Kanye comes in with a pretty dope beat and at first this kind of reminded me of a forgotten 808s & Heartbreak session.  Don’t let that throw you off in any way though, this is a solid track. … Continue reading

Nas & Damian Marley- My Generation Feat. Lil Wayne and Joss Stone

A lot of times when tracks begin to leak before an album comes out, I get disappointed with their quality and I lose excitement for the project.  This however is not the case for Distant Relatives by any means.  Nas and Damian Marley are killing it right now with the quality of the music but most importantly what they are saying in the songs….May 18th is the day to support this much needed album.
