Cris Cab – Echo Boom (Mixtape)

Cris Cab has put together his his most note-worthy collection of songs to date in the form of his latest mixtape, Echo Boom. The anticipated project is presented by Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club, and features production from the likes of Wyclef Jean, 88-Keys, and Pharrell himself. This is clearly the most “official” project we’ve seen from the 18 year-old Miami native, and it’s bound to serve as his stepping stone to mainstream success. Stream it below via Soundcloud, and hit the download link to grab the project in it’s entirety. Download: Cris Cab – Echo Boom (Mixtape) Tweet

Star Slinger – Jet Jam Mixtape #1

Star Slinger has a serious cult following. He looks like some kind of earthy geologist, but he makes these dynamite glitchy remixes that people swoon over. My first encounter with him came via his remix of Alex Winston’s “Sister Wife”, and then I was fully sold when I got my ears on “May I Walk With You?”. His music taste and remix resume are outrageously diverse, so I wasn’t surprised in the slightest to see him putting out a little hip-hop mixtape. The tape goes back and forth between his personal remixes and underground hip-hop jams, and I’ve been listening … Continue reading

Chip Tha Ripper – Tell Ya Friends (Mixtape)

Chip Tha Ripper released a brand new mixtape today, and so far in 2012, it’s the clear winner of cover of the year. Apparently that’s Chip’s son, and the kid’s face is priceless. Beyond that though, people are already praising this project as the best mixtape of the year. Granted, we’re 23 days in 2012, but that’s still no statement to be taken lightly. I’m not through the whole thing yet, but so far I’m a full backer of the track with Cudi. Stream/download the tape below via DatPiff, and let me know if it lives up to the bold … Continue reading

Clams Casino – Instrumentals (Mastered)

The homie Clams Casino just released a full, mastered version of his critically acclaimed mixtape Instrumentals. It’s tough to have a bigger break-out year than this dude; he built an unparalleled buzz while giving Lil B ridiculous beats to rap over, and has since seen his production on major label debuts a la Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park. My personal favorite is still “I’m God” (which oddly enough doesn’t feature on Instrumentals) — but this project is filled with top notch production. Check out “Numb” below, and grab the thing in it’s entirety via Hulkshare. [Audio clip: view full post … Continue reading

The Weeknd — Echoes Of Silence (Mixtape)

Rumors began circulating the internet machine yesterday concerning a final mixtape in the trilogy from The Weeknd. A few tweets here, a few tweets there — and before you know it, he tossed up a Hulkshare link for his third project. I’m one listen through, and if you’re a fan of the Canadian croonmaster, you’ll be into Echoes Of Silence. As with the first two tapes, it took me a bit to solidify my favorite tracks — so I’ll hold off for now. Download the project in it’s entirety below and let me know if it meets the expectations. Zeds Dead – Ruckus The Jam

Zeds Dead officially dropped “Ruckus The Jam” a couple days ago on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, and it’s absolutely killer. I heard it featured it on at least one mix, but they didn’t release it as a single until Tuesday. The Canadian duo has yet to produce a song I don’t love, and “Ruckus The Jam” is no exception. The song just has incredible anatomy (did I just coin song anatomy?). It’s got a smooth build up, drops hard with plenty of energy, builds up again, then drops even harder. If you like what you hear, I highly advise … Continue reading

B.o.B. – “EPIC: Every Play Is Crucial” (Mixtape)

I’m pretty over B.o.B. as a rapper. Not because he “sold out” — he deserves all of his success. I’m just a little sick of hearing his voice all over the place. He’s a ridiculously talented artist, that’s no question. Regardless of how I feel about him, I still think this project is worth checking out. The features are out of control with the likes of Eminem, Mos Def, T.I., Big K.R.I.T. and Bun B. I’m gonna give it a chance tonight, we’ll see what happens. Stream/download the mixtape below and let me know what you think. Am I being … Continue reading

Lupe Fiasco – Friend Of The People (Mixtape)

While you’re all recovering from blissful food comas today, you might want to download this new, impromptu mixtape from Lupe. He dropped this via Twitter yesterday to give thanks to his fans, and it didn’t take long before it started trending.  It was a little curveball here to see him going in on all of these popular electronic jams, but I guess that’s the cool thing to do these days. Hit his rendition of M83′s “Midnight City” below, and if it’s something you’re into — grab the mixtape in it’s entirety. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Lupe Fiasco … Continue reading

OnCue – Can’t Wait (Mixtape)

OnCue really caught my attention with “Feel Tall”. I know he’s been around a bit before that dropped, and he has a couple of mixtapes under his belt, but his talents didn’t really hit me full force until I heard “Feel Tall”. The track encompasses everything that’s different about him, and it had me highly anticipating Can’t Wait, his next project. The day has come for us to really understand what OnCue brings to the table, so download the mixtape in it’s entirety below, and let me know what you think. Big things coming? Or just another young, rapper/singer combo? … Continue reading
