Kyle Lucas- Always Sunny in Marietta (Mixtape)

I found this mixtape yesterday on 2dopeboyz and was instantly intrigued by the title and album artwork because It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is quite possibly my favorite show on TV right now.  After giving it a serious listen last night I was excited to find a new talented up and coming artist.  His name is Kyle Lucas and he is a part of a band called Vonnegutt while residing in Marietta, Georgia.  Vonnegutt is signed to Big Boi from Outkast’s label, Purple Ribbon Records.  Right off the bat that is a pretty heavy co-sign for me because Outkast is … Continue reading

B.o.B- May 25th (Mixtape)

B.o.B aka Bobby Ray dropped this mixtape yesterday and in classic B.o.B fashion he does not disappoint at all.  I love how B.o.B’s sound is so unique, infusing hip hop and rock together perfectly.  I listened to the whole tape a couple times through and it is something that should be in everyone’s music library.  Look out for Bobby Ray’s album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, which comes out on May 25th (I wonder where he got the name for this mixtape?) of this year.  Here are some standouts: B.o.B- The Rain [Audio clip: view full post to listen] B.o.b … Continue reading

Lupe Fiasco- Enemy Of The State: A Love Story (Mixtape)

Lupe Fiasco dropped this over Thanksgiving and apparently has much more coming soon.  According to LupEND the next mixtape will drop on Christmas Day.  Apparently the fact that Lupe was not on MTV’s Hottest MC’s list really pissed him off, because this shit is dope. Download: Enemy of The State: A Love Story (Mixtape) [Audio clip: view full post to listen] [Audio clip: view full post to listen] This next one was already posted but its on the mixtape, so just a quick refresher: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Wiz Khalifa- Burn After Rolling (mixtape) + Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa- How Fly (mixtape)

This new mixtape from Wiz Khalifa, Burn After Rolling, dropped earlier this week and I am pretty impressed.  I first started listening to Wiz Khalifa when he dropped How Fly with Curren$y and I have been impressed ever since.  They put out How Fly together at the end of the summer and if you enjoy good hip hop you should definitely have both of these in your library.  How Fly is definitely more mellow and Burn After Rolling is just as dope if not better.  I mean Wiz went in over the Empire Of The Sun song “Walking On A … Continue reading

Chiddy Bang – The Swelly Express (Mixtape)

We’ve been pushing these guys hard over the past couple of weeks, and today they dropped their official mixtape The Swelly Express.  It’s got all of their gems that we’ve posted before (“Kids” w/ MGMT, “Truth” ft. Passion Pit, etc.), and some nice new material as well. Thanks to Pretty Much Amazing. ““The Swelly Express” is the true story of two college kids (Chidera Anamege and Xaphoon Jones) from Philly who rocked some parties at Drexel and quickly gained the attention of “the industry”.  The music and lyrics were inspired by many boring trips on the Chinatown bus (they have … Continue reading

Mike Posner – One Foot Out The Door (Mixtape)

Mike Posner’s sophomore effort was supposed to drop on Thursday, but for some reason the mixtape came out a few days early…definitely not complaining.  Featuring tracks with Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Saigon, etc.  The senior from Duke is set for a huge 2010, with his first full studio album coming out sometime early next year.  He’s also making his TV debut tonight on Last Call With Carson Daly (not sure how the hell he got his own talk-show…)  The mixtape is available to download for free on iTunes U…or just follow this link if it’s easier: Download: Mike Posner – … Continue reading

Mixtape: Mick Boogie and Terry Urban – Wild Young Heartbreaks (The Noisettes Remixed)

I was debating whether or not to post this mixtape that has the up-and-coming UK group The Noisettes over Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak.  Definitely a different piece put together by Mick Boogie and Terry Urban.  I’m not sure exactly how excited I am about this remix project, but creative/weird music like this always seems to end up on my ipod… Download HERE Here is the remix of “Amazing” that I think is the best mash-up/mix. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] And the album artwork is dope… Tweet

10.Deep Presents: Donnis – Diary of an ATL Brave (Mixtape)

Last summer the clothing line 10. Deep gave us two classics such as Wale’s Mixtape About Nothing and Kid Cudi’s A Kid Named CuDi. Once again they sponsor a soon to be classic from an artist who does not sounds like he comes from Atlanta.  He goes by Donnis, and if you haven’t heard of him, DOWNLOAD Diary of an ATL Brave and get familar. To make your life easier here are two standouts: Donnis- Beginnings [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Donnis- Over Do It [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Tweet

Mixtape: Mick Boogie and Peter Bjorn & John – Re-Living Thing

Not the first time the Swedish indie-rock trio Peter, Bjorn, and John have had their material remixed by someone in hip hop, but I ran across this mixtape the other day and figured I should share it with you all.  Ranging from notables like Wale, Bun B, GZA, Donnis, Big Sean, Talib Kweli, and many more.   Some fresh new talent is featured as well…the Washington D.C. native Tabi Bonney and the West coast duo known as U-N-I just to name a few.  The mixtape comes from the man who engineered the Jay-Z and Marvin Gaye collaboration, Brooklyn Soul…it’s definitely worth … Continue reading
