KiD CuDi – Did You Get it

Here’s a new track from Cudi that was featured on Young Money HD’s “Limelight Exclusive 3′s” mixtape (hence the semi-annoying tags). I meant to hold off posting until the CDQ version dropped, but it’s been a couple days now so I’ll go ahead and share this peasant shit with the tags. It’s the normal, spacey style that we’re used to from Mr. Mescudi, so you shouldn’t be thrown off here. Not sure if this will be off the sophomore album or not…we shall see. The Best Tracks of August

I realize I’m a couple days late with delivering you all the best tracks of August. Regardless, this is hands down my favorite compilation yet. This month was filled with a myriad (SAT word, son) of spectacular jams from all genres. As always, just hit play, and take in all 24 tracks, all made up of strictly flammable materials. Additionally, download the zip file to own the greatest music of the month in your personal iTunes library. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Best Tracks of August

XV – We Zonin’

XV just dropped a track off of his upcoming, highly anticipated mixtape, Vizzy Zone. As I said weeks ago, after seeing him in concert and getting more familiar with his material, the rapper from Kansas has skyrocketed to one of my favorite up and comers. “We Zonin” is an energetic, addictive track, and it should be a sign of great things to come with the release of the mixtape (which will supposedly drop next week). Hit the download below. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: XV – We Zonin’

Throwback Thursday 9/2/2010 Edition

Today’s post features old and new music, both performed by Jamiroquai. The throwback version of this post is Virtual Insanity – a great jam with a badass music video. The tracked dropped waaaay back in 1996 and the video absolutely blew up: at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 1997, it earned ten nominations, winning four awards. That’s a pretty amazing showing. Not sure I appreciate the symbolism and whatnot (if any); what’s with the cockroaches? or the bleeding couch? Whatever. Last week Jamiroquai dropped a track to be included on his new album called Rock Dust Light Star … Continue reading

Brenton Duvall – Against A Mad World (Tupac vs. Gary Jules)

This track has been sitting on Brenton Duvall’s SoundCloud page for a bit now, but it just recently caught fire in the blogosphere. I feel like I’m just posting every track this kid from CU-Boulder puts out there, but what can you do? He fuses Tupac with the creepy track from Donnie Darko to create a mind-blowing remix that must be shared with all. Check it out below. Jay-Z (feat. Chris Martin) – Most Kingz

This right here is somewhat of a scrapped, yet brand new track from Jay-Z and Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. According to the blogosphere, the vocals were recorded back when Jay made Kingdom Come, but they just never came up with a legitimate beat for it. Instead, the lyrics were used for Coldplay and Jay-Z’s “Lost” remix. Moral of the story is that DJ Green Lantern provided his own beat for the song, and put it out on his most recent mixtape. It’s not brand new, official Jay-Z…but it’s worth downloading. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Jay-Z (feat. … Continue reading

The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit)

One of my favorite songs of the summer gets injected with a little dance vibe from none other than DJ Skeet Skeet. The original is still my jam, but now I have two options to choose from…if I’m feeling a little more fired up at the time maybe I’ll go with the Skeet Skeet version. It’s always good to have two different styles of something you love. Give it a go. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit) [via]

Wiz Khalifa- Black & Yellow (Mastered)

Wiz released his first single tonight which is obviously an ode to his hometown, Pittsburgh.  The chorus is pretty addicting and the beat, produced by Stargate, is good as well.  I like the majority of the material that Wiz produces and this song is definitely solid.  On another note I just bought tickets for his Waken Baken Tour show that is coming to The Fox Theatre here in Boulder on October 8th and I can not wait.  Enjoy… [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Wiz Khalifa- Black & Yellow

Stromae (Feat. Kanye West & Gilbere Forte)– Alors On Danse (Remix)

Just came across this song, and these are exactly the type of random collaborations I love to hear.  I thought this was going to be some sort of mash-up with some old Kanye verses but this sounds like an original collaboration and this song is super dope.  The original song is by a guy named Stromae from Belgium and apparently the original is huge overseas.  I could see this record killing it in clubs very shortly if there is some sort of push behind it from DJs, but who knows.  I don’t think this is a finished track because the … Continue reading

Game (Feat. Jay Electronica & Swizz Beatz)- Higher

Finally we get a quality track from Game.  It’s been a while since I’ve heard a new song from him that I thought deserved multiple listens.  From the Bob Marley sample here, to Jay Electronica (my favorite rapper) killing his verse, this song is exactly what I needed to spark a little bit of excitement for Game’s next project, The R.E.D. Album.  Swizz Beatz is yelling all over the track in typical fashion, but that’s easy to ignore… especially if the album version has a Nas verse like rumored.  Enjoy this and hopefully some more solid material from Game is … Continue reading
