MGMT – Flash Delirium & Congratulations

March 9, 2010 - 11:48 pm

MGMT is back with the upcoming release of their sophomore album, Congratulations.  (which happens to out-do the Gorillaz new album for the most cracked out album art of all time) The band just released a couple of tracks from their new album, and so far their psychedelic, trippy reputation lives up to our expectations.  Both “Flash Delirium” and “Congratulations” are entirely different from one another, and definitely aren’t in the same upbeat class as “Kids” or “Electric Feel”; the songs that made them the popular band they are today.  “Flash Delirium” is tough to even attempt to describe, so I’ll just let your ears do it for you.  “Congratulations” is a melodic slow-tempo jam…unlike anything I’ve heard from the band before.  Both leaks are undeniably bizarre, but what can you expect from MGMT.

Joe Budden- New York Jersey Philly (Feat. Royce Da 5′9″)

March 9, 2010 - 12:10 pm

joeybudden1I got this track from the two Slaughterhouse representatives and I like it a lot more then then original song, by Lloyd Banks “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley”.  A hard track where Joe and Royce do what they do best and slaughter all the wack shit that happens in hip hop.

T.I.- I’m Back

March 9, 2010 - 11:48 am

TISo the day that Lil Wayne is put in jail T.I. releases his first track after being in jail and getting back into recording.  Definitely more of a harder street single that reminds me of the T.I. who gave us “You Don’t Know Me” and “24’s”.  I am excited to see what his new album will sound like, which is apparently coming out on August 24th.  Enjoy..

Sam Adams – Heads Will Roll (Remix)

March 9, 2010 - 1:14 am

I’ve been holding off blogging about this kid since I posted “I Hate College”; I just couldn’t get a read on him.  Some of his tracks I can’t take seriously… with others, there’s no denying his talent.  I can’t lie about it, it’s a fact that the the kid from Trinity College is exploding right now.  His 8 track EP has locked up the top spot on iTunes for the hip hop genre.  Check this remix to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll” (not on the album) for a taste of his style.  He’s playing the marketing game perfectly as well, as he’s got a college tour coming up that’s partnered with Barstool Sports. Like him or not, he’s making moves.

Justin Taylor – The Prequel (Mixtape)

March 8, 2010 - 1:25 am

cover_front

Justin Taylor sent over his first official mixtape this past weekend, entitled The Prequel.  I’ve tossed up a couple of posts on the site from this up and comer out of New Jersey, but it’s good to finally hear his first official release.  He borrows some beats from indie bands like Ratatat and Empire of the Sun, hip hop moguls such as Jay and Kanye, and he also dabbles in producing his own.  I’m really into his blend of singing and rapping; it works well for him and he definitely has some big things on the horizon.  Here are a quick couple of standouts to give you a taste of what’s on the mixtape:

Kid Cudi- I Do My Thing (Prod. by Watts & Ringo) (Feat. Snoop Dogg)

March 7, 2010 - 10:10 pm

kid-cudi-snoop-dogg-after-drark-february-2009-450x300This is supposedly a song from Cudi’s sophomore album, Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution.  According to the posts on Nah Right and 2Dopeboyz it is produced by Dr. Dre Watts & Ringo, but I kind of find that hard to believe because material from the Doc rarely comes out.  Still a dope song.  Enjoy…

Big Sean- Way Out (Feat. Mr. Hudson)

March 5, 2010 - 10:46 pm

big seanThis song is supposedly off of Big Sean’s debut album, Finally Famous, but you can never know with the way music is available these days.  A great track from the two G.O.O.D. music representatives.  Kanye has built a label with some serious heat behind it (think John Legend, Kid Cudi, Common, Big Sean, Mr. Hudson, Consequence, and a couple more).
