K’NAAN – Hurt Me Tomorrow

“Hurt Me Tomorrow” is the lead single off K’NAAN’s long-awaited new record Country, God or The Girl – due out in July 2012. Backed by Ryan Tedder‘s (of OneRepublic fame) descending piano chords, the Somalian native sticks to the formula that’s garnered all of his success to date. On a random note, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he somehow cranks out the anthem to this year’s Summer Olympics. He was the dude behind the World Cup with “Wavin’ Flag”, and for whatever reason, his music has this global appeal that fits perfectly for worldwide events. Tweet

Matisyahu – Sunshine

Matisyahu released a brand new single today in gearing up for his upcoming album Spark Seeker. That’s cool and all, but when the hell did he shave his beard? Am I behind here? Wasn’t that his staple? I’m a little confused and uncomfortable by this clean-shaven version of himself. Either way, he continues the trend of the more radio-friendly Matisyahu that we’ve seen of late. Not against it — definitely works out for him. Hit the stream below and head over to his website for a free download. UPDATE: So apparently he shaved his beard at the end of 2011. … Continue reading

G-Eazy (feat. Dominique LeJeune) – Marilyn (Official Video)

Here are the official visuals for “Marilyn” from the Bay area’s own G-Eazy. The dude is fresh off a a little college circuit, involving some sold out shows with A$AP Rocky. On top of that, he’s gearing up for the Vans Warped Tour this summer — safe to say that he’s making a significant name for himself. Tweet

The Hood Internet – The Mixtape Volume 6

Mash-ups are overdone, oversaturated, and generally just headache inducing. For whatever reason though, The Hood Internet is, and always has been, simply better than everyone else at making them sound good. I can’t explain it — they’re just more talented than you and your high school buddies in your basement mixing M83 with “Rack City”. That’s all there is to it. Download their latest mixtape and check them out in your city as they travel the nation with Star Slinger. Tracklist after the jump. [via MJF] Tweet

OnCue – Rich Kid (Official Video)

Young talent just seeping out everywhere right here. Brenton Duvall and CJ Luzi absolutely annihilated the production on this one, but we knew this already. Honestly, these rapper/singer combos are a force to be reckoned with — and OnCue is well on his way. This we knew already too. I’m bringing nothing new to the table here — the official video drop is below, so go ahead and hit play on that guy. Tweet

Big Sean (feat. Wale) – Life Should Go On

This little piano riff is undeniable right here. Big Sean’s been laying relatively low since the mass success of his debut album Finally Famous, but he came out of the blue this week with a couple of random releases. Here he links up with Wale for a little throwback to their days when they came up together. Off The Syndicate’s upcoming G.O.O.D. 2: Getting Out Our Dreams mixtape — get involved. Drake (feat. The Weeknd) – Crew Love (Star Slinger’s Jersey Refix)

Star Slinger’s a savage. This we’ve known. He just unleashed a little “refix” (the cooler way of saying remix now) of Drake and The Weeknd’s collabo effort “Crew Love”. The Manchester UK native adds his fair share of booms and baps and the result is what I’m looking for at the moment. BOSTON – Star Slinger and The Hood Internet are playing at The Paradise next Thursday (5/10) — it’s gonna be worth your time. See you there. Cut Chemist (feat. Blackbird) – “Outro (Revisited)”

This is Cut Chemist’s first release in six years and apparently the first track he wrote after getting out of jail? With a rebellious chip on his shoulder and pent-up frustrations, Cut Chemist teams up with L.A. superstar (in his own right), Blackbird, who’s made a name for himself with his frantic energy and highly volatile music. A perfect pairing of minds for “Outro (Revisited)” if you ask me. What’s more, this video his HIGHLY enjoyable. You can even catch glimpses of the Chemist doing his thing on the turn tables. Tweet

Chief Keef (feat. Kanye West, Pusha T, Jadakiss & Big Sean) – I Don’t Like (Remix)

Chief Keef’s Chicago ode gets the G.O.O.D. Music remix treatment. Almost too many features on here to even keep track of. I’ll leave the opinions to you all. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Chief Keef (feat. Kanye West, Pusha T, Jadakiss & Big Sean) – I Don’t Like [via 2DB] Tweet

Refined Hype Presents: Overlooked

Written by Nathan from Refined Hype: Some know Rittz as that white guy with the huge hair, or one of the game’s best double-time flow practitioners, or an accomplished horticulturist (ok, I made that last one up). Loyalists of theSlumerican emcee know that the man has some serious storytelling rap skills. From his work on Yelawolf’s “Growin Up in the Gutter” to “Sleep at Night“, Rittz has displayed a serious penchant for narration, a penchant he puts on full display yet again on new promo single “Love Me”. The Beatchefs provide an instantly memorable beat full of horns and a haunting sample that would have … Continue reading
