Just caught this awesome jam on Turntable. Irish Steph released the original version of “Crush” about a month ago, and it has since become a remix phenomenon. You can catch some of these remixes on his Soundcloud page. I love hearing different interpretations of the same song, but the one below just blows me away. The first 48 seconds are a simple vocal sample from the original, but then after that The Noisy Freaks unleash their creativity. The iconic French Duo known as Justice put their full album up for streaming yesterday to provoke more anticipation for its release today. It is blatantly obvious that they have taken their sound in a different direction then their first Ed Banger release; choosing to go with more of a 1980′s pop synth feel. I am going to keep my opinion to myself on this one, but leave some comments so we can hear what the general consensus is. Buy on iTunes here. Tweet
To induce more hype for his upcoming double album, Kaskade has released his highly anticipated collaboration with Skrillex. Kaskade’s mellow house tunes mixed with the heavy bass of Skrillex sounds like a perfect combination on an initial listen. Check out the new tune below, be on the look out for Fire & Ice, and let me know your thoughts on this joint effort between two of the bigger DJs in the industry. Steve Angello freshens up an already stellar track with this remix here. I hadn’t listened to this Nero track in a while…it’s nice to have it re-birthed in my catalogue. The fast-paced remix may not be as good as the original, but it’s definitely still something worth giving a spin. Nero will be releasing a Me & You EP featuring this track, due out on November 1. Both Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans” and “Videogames” have been all the rage to remix lately. This one is far and above the best I’ve heard. Love Thy Brother adds some vicious bass without getting too out of control, all while keeping Lana’s melodic vocals in tact. Glorious. Shout out to Kramer. Martin Solveig’s most recent album Smash is littered with party-inducing gems. Absolutely littered with them. “Big In Japan” happens to be one, regardless of the fact that it sounds eerily similar to “Hello” (also featuring Dragonette). Don’t let that deter you from hitting play. Tweet
SAVOY, the electronic group out of Boulder, has been on fire lately. From dropping a single that has been tearing up the dubstep charts on Beatport, recently dropping a great fall mix, and now putting out this gem; they’re making serious moves. The sample on this one is what really hooks me. I’m pretty sure the last thing I expected to hear was The Mamas & Papas classic tune being mixed in with hard electro beats, but it works. Looks like we have a new Skrillex release for all of those craving heavy dubstep. The one thing I always liked about Skrillex is that his production is always on point. He brings his own style to dubstep by mixing melodic sounds in between all of the wompage. Let me know what you all think of his lated effort. Gonna be honest, Lupe’s one of the more annoying dudes to follow on Twitter. The other day though, he was saying how the pre-concert, hype-up jam of his tour had been Bassnectar’s remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”. Didn’t see that one coming in the slightest. It was only a matter of time before he jumped on it himself to lay down a few bars. Keep your eyes open for a mixtape coming from him around Thanksgiving titled Friend Of The People. As always, get educated with the lyrical breakdowns from the minds over at Rap Genius: Lupe Fiasco – Lightwork … Continue reading
