Aloe Blacc – Green Lights (Video)

One of the more soulful, relaxing albums of the past year, Aloe Blacc’s Good Things received a ton of attention after the worldwide success of “I Need A Doller”. “Green Lights” was one of my favorite cuts off the album, and the man just released the visuals for the track yesterday. Tweet

David Guetta & Avicii – Sunshine

Here we have another song off of David Guetta’s next studio album which drops on August 26th.  The album will apparently be 2 discs, with the first one focused on vocals, heavy on collaborations with various pop stars. The second disc will contain purely instrumentals such as this one and the gem posted the other day featuring Afrojack.  It’s great to see Guetta collaborating with Avicii; as most of the avid viewers of this blog know, we love some Avicii at The Chuckness.  I know Jimbo and Chuck are going to the Identity Festival in Boston today and I was … Continue reading

ANR – It’s Around You

ANR comes out of Miami, and brings with them an established synth-rock perfection that’s hard to come across these days. “It’s Around You” will be getting a guestimated 80-100 plays on my upcoming flight to Baltimore (“Got dem spida bags!!”). That’s conservative. I feel terrible for the poor soul sitting next to me in 18C as I belt “Keep your toenails on the ground, put your fingers in the air” at the top of my lungs. Maybe I’ll dish him/her a couple Tylenol PM’s and we’ll call it even. Shout out to Neon Gold; keep doing what you do. [Audio clip: view full … Continue reading

Skrillex – First Of The Year (Equinox)

So Skrillex just released his official music video for “First Of The Year (Equinox)” off his More Monster and Sprites EP (which was released back in June). Frankly, I’m speechless. It’s one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. And I love it. If you can somehow articulate your reaction, hit up the comments section or the shout box. While on the subject of Skrillex music videos, I definitely recommend watching his Rock n Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain) video. The cameos are out of control. Tweet

Miike Snow – Animal (J_D’s Remix)

I’m over “Animal” remixes entirely; but that’s not going to stop me from posting this one. This kid named Justin, who goes by JD, sent this my way yesterday, and my expectations were slim prior to pressing play; but everything changed for me rather quickly. JD has successfully injected Miike Snow’s hit with a late night, European club feel; and it’s nearly flawless. Plus he digs Explosions in the Sky, so this was a shoe-in. “What’s goin on Chuck?  I’m a long time follower and fan of your website.  I get a lot of gems from you, like Explosions in … Continue reading

Future Islands – Balance

This Baltimore-based synth-pop trio just came on my radar today via The Guardian, and I’m impressed with what they have going for them on “Balance”. The synth-infused melodies and lead vocals from Samuel T. Herring are treating me right today. Be on the lookout in the near future for their third studio album titled, On The Water. Tweet

Labtracks – Robotic Love (Lenno Remix)

Obscenely talented 16 year old producers are the new rage apparently. First it was Madeon taking the world by storm. Now, I’ve just been introduced to a 16 year old Finnish producer by the name of Lenno, who’s created one of the more captivating remixes I’ve heard in a while. From start to finish, this one grabs you by the collar and has you raging in your cubicle. Even Finland is doing big things — I demand more teenage prodigies! [via All Things Go] Tweet

Mac Miller – Frick Park Market

“Frick Park Market” is the first track we’ve heard off of Mac Miller’s debut album Blue Slide Park, and he’s accompanied the release with this goofy-ass video. Pick up the single on iTunes. Tweet

The Weeknd – Thursday (Mixtape)

The Weeknd and Frank Ocean have single-handedly put R&B back on the map with their previous mixtape releases, and since then, both have seen their music careers take off at full speed. Frank Ocean is all over Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne, and The Weeknd (working with Drake) has everyone hypnotized. His sophomore mixtape effort was rumored to drop in the near future, but he threw a curveball by actually releasing it before people were expecting. The tape is composed of 9 tracks, with a handful of those 9 already released to the public. I’ve yet to listen to … Continue reading

Bon Iver – Holocene (Video)

Perfect visuals for a perfect song. Bon Iver’s “Holocene”, being the musical Ambien that it is, is bound to have a beautifully done, nature-oriented video, and that’s exactly what we get. One of the more uplifting, easy listens I’ve heard in a while; and at this point, I wouldn’t expect anything different from Mr. Vernon. Tweet
