The Lay of the Land

Things are changing a bit around these parts, and I wanted to take a minute to fill all you guys in on what’s happening. Nobody died, the site is still functioning…but there have been some changes that are worth sharing with you fools. First off, we signed on with an upcoming content discovery platform called Swaave, which is exciting for a bunch of reasons. Every post found on The Chuckness will now be found over at Swaave as well, and we join the company of a bunch of other music, technology and cultural sites that I’ve been a loyal fan … Continue reading

Deadmau5 Announces Las Vegas Residency

Rolling Stone – Electronic music superstar Deadmau5 has signed on with XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club for an exclusive yearlong Las Vegas residency at the clubs beginning on January 2, 2012. “I love that Vegas is really embracing electronic music as their staple entertainment,” says Deadmau5, who played several shows at the Wynn Las Vegas resort venues last year. “All of the Sinatras and Rat Packs are now DJs. I’ve heard Vegas is going to be the next Ibiza, but it’s its own thing. Here it’s all about flash and show and lights.” In this trailer for the residency, … Continue reading

GoPro HD Hero 2 Video

GoPro put together this video showcasing the HD Hero 2 and it’s pretty incredible what you can do with these powerful little cameras.  If you have never messed around with one they are super fun and simple.  This video shows the camera doing everything from filming a great white shark to catching some footage of a lunatic in a flying squirrel suit. Let’s get these dudes on board for a contest, eh? GoPro, hit me up whenever. Tweet

Reader E-Mail: Problem With “N****s In Paris” Lyric

So I get the below e-mail randomly today and was absolutely dying, I had no choice but to post it. Read on. ——————————————————————————————————————————– Look, I know this is a little unorthodox, but I just needed to rant about something and I knew that you might share the same issue. My issue is with a lyric in “Niggas in Paris.” Now I know that I am no lyricist, and I am never one to question Kanye West’s abilities, but this one has me baffled. “Prince Williams ain’t do it right if you ask me, cause I was him I would have … Continue reading

The Godfather on YouTube (UPDATED)

I know this isn’t music related, but I think it’s pretty awesome you can now watch The Godfather in its entirety on YouTube. Apparently movie studios are testing out the notion of uploading feature films to YouTube, and Sony uploading The Godfather is the most recent example of this. Read this, I swear. UPDATE: So the account that uploaded the video wasn’t really Sony, and Youtube has removed the account. Bummer. Tweet

Armageddon

Two days ago I was hanging around in the dark depths of the internet, and I fell into a trap. I was faced with Christina Perri’s official music video for her next single “Arms”, and I was curious. I pressed play. I loved it. Motherfucker. I honestly had no chance. The melodies, her soothing voice, her badass tats. I was utterly helpless. Fast-forward two days, and we just had an earthquake in Boston. Evacuating buildings and shit. Granted the destruction was equivalent to a fallen over lawn chair, but it was an earthquake nonetheless. Digging Christina Perri’s new single, earthquakes … Continue reading

What Was The First Album You Ever Bought?

[Audio clip: view full post to listen] Well this is demoralizing. The other day I was trying to recall the first physical album I went out to purchase on my own. I’m not talking gifts, I’m talking the very first album that I bought with my own hard-earned nickels and dimes. For some ungodly reason, I just can’t remember purchasing an album before the Armageddon soundtrack. I mean this is fucking devastating. There has to be another CD that I nabbed prior to this, there just has to be. I’ll take anything. I definitely biked to Strawberries to pick … Continue reading
