Miike Snow – Paddling Out (Official Video)

Here we have the official video for Miike Snow’s infectious “Paddling Out”, off their upcoming album — and it’s weird as HELL. It begins with an empty whiskey bottle on the ground, labeled “Banana Juice” — and continues to follow some overweight version of William H. Macy in Shameless as he gets grotesquely operated on by a crew of horrifying Quaker-like young girls. Dancing is involved. So yeah, that is all. Check it out. Tweet

Gotye – Eyes Wide Open (Live on Jimmy Kimmel)

Back in October of 2010, I came across a captivating track in the blogosphere by a then relatively unknown Australian singer. “Eyes Wide Open” was one of those songs that stuck with me from the very first play, and over a year later it still has the same effect. Now, in 2012, he’s performing “Eyes Wide Open” for the masses on Jimmy Kimmel, and it sounds better then ever. Do yourselves a favor and pick up his debut album Making Mirrors, one of the better debuts I’ve heard in a while. It’s such a great feeling to see an artist … Continue reading

Emeli Sandé – Heaven (Official Video)

Whoa — not quite sure how this one slipped under the radar. Emeli Sandé is this smooth Scottish R&B singer who’s just pulled the rug out from under me. As far as comparisons go, I’m coming up empty. She’s like this Janelle Monae/Beyoncé hybrid that’s heavily influenced by the jazz/breakbeat scene. Anyone? Maybe? I don’t care, this shit deserves to be recognized. Watch the official video for her debut single below. Tweet

Bon Joviver – You Give Love A Bad Name

So this has been making all the rounds on the world wide interwebs today, and for good reason. Creativity defeats all. Kinda wish we had the whole song to work with here — but it’s hysterical and awesome nonetheless. Tweet

Alex Winston – Choice Notes (Official Video)

Ms. Winston takes her Detroit upbringing to heart in this one as she struts through the streets of her hometown. I completely forgot her debut album was just around the corner — King Con hits shelves March 6th — and given the undeniable catchy vibes of “Velvet Elvis” and “Sister Wife”, it’s gonna be right up my alley. On a side note, am I the only one seeing a little Skrillex influence with her hair here? Anyone? Anyone? Tweet

Lana Del Rey Live on SNL

So this was a curveball over the weekend. Lana Del Rey made her huge U.S. debut on Saturday Night Live, and she was bad enough to get slammed from pretty much every possible media outlet in existence. I saw the Twitter updates on Sunday morning about how atrocious her performance was, but I didn’t really buy any of it. There’s no way she could’ve been that bad right? I mean her songs are catchy as hell; it’s tough to be that bad of a live performer. Unfortunately for everyone involved, she really was horrendous. Check it out for yourself below. … Continue reading

Zeds Dead – The Adrenaline EP

My favorite dubstep duo, Zeds Dead, recently announced the release of their Adrenaline EP due out on January 23. The EP is scheduled to include four tracks, three of which are staples in my music library: 1. In the Beginning 2. Adrenaline 3. Hit Me 4. Oh No If you’re an avid fan of DC and Hooks like myself then you’ve probably heard most of the material. For those concerned that there are only four tracks, Zeds Dead says “don’t worry”. For everyone who’s concerned about there only being 4 tracks on this EP don’t worry. We have been hard … Continue reading

Sol – 2020 (Official Video)

Sol’s gearing up to release his album titled Yours Truly, and “2020″ is our first look at what we’ll be working with. I’ve been pretty heavily invested in this guy’s work since I first got my ears on “This Shit”, and this is no different. Keep your eyes open for January 20th, when the project is slated to be released. If you missed it, check out Sol’s mini-feature he did with us, writing about his Top 3 Songs of 2011. Tweet

Clock Opera – Once And For All (Official Video)

Tears everywhere. Instead of making a typical spring break styled music video, Clock Opera opts for the waterworks instead. Old people get me everytime. Tweet

Scissor Sisters (feat. Krystal Pepsi) – Shady Love

Remember the Scissor Sisters? “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” should get the blood flowing again for you. The NYC-based, flamboyant crew scored a number one hit in the UK with that track back in 2006, and they’re looking to replicate their success with “Shady Love”. They’ve definitely adapted to the times — this one’s a little more bass heavy, and a little less 80′s dance-pop. No question this is bizarre, but that’s to be expected coming from them. Tweet
