Lana Del Rey – National Anthem

I can’t really remember a dramatic buzz like the one Lana Del Rey has created for herself in the past year/few months. This girl is all over the online music scene, and with her debut album Born To Die releasing on January 30th, she’ll branch out on a national, mainstream scale.

“National” Anthem” is another cut off the debut album — and I’m pretty comfortable saying it’s one of my favorites from her camp. Her sultry voice over productions that sound meant for hip-hop is a combination that works — and you can tell that her people are aware of that. Oh, and she also signed a modeling contract. Pretty sure we all saw that coming.

Clock Opera – Once And For All (Official Video)

Tears everywhere. Instead of making a typical spring break styled music video, Clock Opera opts for the waterworks instead. Old people get me everytime.

Mansions On The Moon – Rest Of Your Days

A new track off of Mansions On The Moon’s debut album Lightyears was just released, and it’s glorious. Am I the only one getting a bizarre Simon & Garfunkel vibe here?? The disparity between all of their songs is beyond impressive — everything sounds completely different. On this one, they’re going for the laid back, musical Valium style, and it works out perfectly. After one listen you shall be unconscious.

Adventure Galley – Addict

It’s about that time for a little synthed-out indie jam from a 6-piece crew out of Portland, Oregon. Adventure Galley put their talents on full display with “Addict”, somewhat reminiscent of MGMT before they got too bake-aked and strayed away from their established sound on their second album. Sort of. That’s the best I’m coming up with here.

Check them out on Facebook — more to come from these guys.

Yelle – Comme Un Enfant (Viceroy Remix)

Why not start out your Wednesday with a little French dance groove? Yelle has always had this ability to plow through language barriers. Regardless of whether or not I have any idea what the hell the lead singer is saying (which I don’t), it’s still catchy as hell. Music is music. A dude by the name of Viceroy took to remixing “Comme Un Enfant”, and it works out swimmingly. French people — hit the comments section with a lyrical translation for me?

Avicii – Live @ Pier 94 (New York City 1/1/2012)

The most hyped New Years event this year was hands down Avicii live at Pier 94 in New York City. Somehow, my legendary cousin managed to sneak in, and he confirmed that it was absolute mayhem. You didn’t have to be there to believe him — hit the live set in it’s entirety and pretend like you were a part of it.

He also made a point to tell me that one of the openers, a Russian DJ who goes by the name of Arty, absolute tore the building down with his set. If you have an hour to kill, or feel like lighting some shit on fire, hit play below.

2AM Club (feat. Chiddy) – Every Evening (Remix)

Guilty pleasure city on this one. 2AM Club enlists the help of Chiddy to toss in a couple of verses on top of their “Every Evening” flamboyant soother. Good (I think?) to see Chiddy branching out from working with Xaphoon a bit — he did a little work with VV Brown on “Children” back in 2011 as well. Regardless, if you were into the original track, this remix is worth a pickup.

I’m gonna go back to listening to straight electro prior to the Holy Ship departure. T-2 days my minions.

Penguin Prison – Don’t Fuck With My Money (City Rain Remix)

City Rain needs some more love on the blogosphere. “I’m Gone” made a little splash a few months back, and now they appear to be getting into the remix game, which is nothing but a carpool express lane to the top of the Hypem charts. Here’s their well-crafted remix to Penguin Prison’s anthem “Don’t Fuck With My Money” — stream and download for your pleasure.

Midi Matilda – Day Dreams

Here we have a San Francisco duo coming out of the blue with a piano-driven gem that needs to be heard. Midi Matilda have captured something special with this one — an airy, synthed out vibe that’s perfect to zone out to. If you can make it through “Day Dreams” without losing your train of thought entirely, then I commend you.
