Class Warfare – Memory

Coming in at 2:18, this right here would serve as any mixtape’s perfect intro. The instrumental is captivating as hell, and it’s fair to say that I’ve listened to it for about 12 minutes straight now. Adding it to the driving playlist as we speak.

Nas – The Don

Nas went ahead and released the second single off his upcoming album last night — with the same token sound that we’ve grown so accustomed to from him over the past, I don’t know, 20 years. Here’s a man who’s not gonna be switching up his style anytime soon. Life Is Good due out in the near future.

Skrillex (feat. Sirah) – Kyoto (Dotcom Moombahton Bootleg)

DJ B-Rob absolutely despises the fact that moombahton is a musical genre — which I find hysterical. No way in hell I could listen to something like this a year ago — but for whatever reason my horizons have broadened and I can get down with a Dotcom moombahton bootleg. Do me on it.

Frank Ocean – White

Frank slowing things down around here with his latest ballad “White”, which will be featured on his crew’s upcoming Odd Future Tape Vol. 2. Not my favorite cut from him, but it doesn’t change my opinion on the guy. Eagerly awaiting his solo release, whenever that may come.

Monde Idéal – Future Waits

I’m pretty dead tired at the moment. Not a whole lot of natural energy exuding from the body. Enter Monde Idéal to lead me off into an REM sleep dreamland. This is the stuff right here at the moment.

J. Cole (feat. Missy Elliot) – Nobody’s Perfect (Official Video)

In retrospect, this album was pretty great. It’s fallen off my radar for the past couple of months, but I think I’m about ready to get back into it. Until then check out the official visuals for Cole’s track with Missy Elliot below.

KiD CuDi – The Ruler & The Killer

Cudi keeping shit weird with “The Ruler & The Killer”, which is due out on The Hunger Games soundtrack. Wait what? Yeah, The Hunger Games soundtrack. Note to all males — read the books if you want to be able to hold a conversation with any female within a 400 mile radius. Glad we got that covered.

Miike Snow – Paddling Out (Live on BBC Radio 1)

Holy hell this sounds similar to the studio recording. For whatever reason I always thought the lead singer’s voice was always somewhat manipulated via computer effects — don’t know why, but I refused to believe that he actually sounded like that. I STAND CORRECTED.

It’s Miike Snow season — get involved.

Miike Snow – The Wave (Official Video)

I picked up Happy To You yesterday and can already tell that this album is gonna get some serious play time on my end. They’ve really come into their own on this record, and seem as comfortable as ever. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start playing some huge venues in the near future — they’re starting to master that stadium anthem sound. Check the video for “The Wave” above.

Wiz Khalifa – Taylor Allderdice (Mixtape)

Wiz Khalifa released his highly anticipated mixtape Taylor Allderdice tonight, and it’s apparently shut down the mixtape hosting site DatPiff.com.  100%. The people love Wiz. Below I have an alternative link put up by Wiz and his crew that’s working, but working very slowly because of all the people trying to get their hands on it.

I have yet to give this a spin but the project has me a bit excited.  Wiz sent a statement saying that in hindsight his work on Rolling Papers wasn’t his most creative.  He didn’t have any regrets about the album, but he stated that he was going to go back more to his style on the mixtape Kush & Orange Juice.  That was (and still is) my favorite project from him, so hopefully he can re-create that feeling here.
