Big Sean- Way Out (Feat. Mr. Hudson)

big seanThis song is supposedly off of Big Sean’s debut album, Finally Famous, but you can never know with the way music is available these days.  A great track from the two G.O.O.D. music representatives.  Kanye has built a label with some serious heat behind it (think John Legend, Kid Cudi, Common, Big Sean, Mr. Hudson, Consequence, and a couple more).

kidz-in-the-hall-take-over-the-world-artworkThis is one of the singles off of Kidz In The Hall’s album, Land of Make Believe, that is in stores this Tuesday March 9th.  A super dope feel good track with Colin Munroe killing the chorus.

Wale vs. Skip Bayless on 1st and 10

How the hell is Skip Bayless going to have a valid opinion on hip hop music?

Drake – Over (prod. Boi-1da & Al Khaaliq)

drake-over-border-added-dre-450x446Drake’s first single off of Thank Me Later and it does not disappoint.  I had to listen to it a couple times to really appreciate it, but I think all the Drake haters should be silenced.  I know it is hard for some people to take the paraplegic character from Degrassi serious, and some don’t really dig how he blew up so quickly, but you can not deny talent.  I got one of Drake’s mixtapes, Comeback Season, back in 2008, and I have been a fan ever since.  The hook has been stuck in my head since I first heard it and this beat is fucking nuts as well, Boi-1da & Al Khaaliq killed it.  Enjoy…

Throwback Thursday 3/4/2010 Edition; Part 2

The Beatnuts – “We Got The Funk” (2002)

My apologies for the Throwback Thursdays lacking recently.  I’m aware it’s many of our fans’ reason for living come Thursday.  I just got a little out of control with it during its peak and I want to space out the throwbacks as much as I can.  I can’t throw too many at you at once, it’ll be too overwhelming.

A co-worker of mine turned me onto this smooth track by The Beatnuts, and I haven’t turned back.  “We Got The Funk” samples a late 70s/early 80s track by Rachel Sweet (no idea who she is), and turns it into one of the more perfect songs to walk around a city to.  Maybe it’s just me, but you feel sweet as hell cruising around the streets of Boston with this in your ears; it’s just got a nice vibe to it.  Released in 2002, this song received virtually no recognition on a national scale; it wasn’t even released in CD format.  But for some obscene reason it landed in the movie Click with Adam Sandler…which makes absolutely no sense.  Give it a spin, you’ll be hooked.

Throwback Thursday – Can’t Deny It

Urban Dictionary Word of the Day – Procrasturbating

Web Redemption 2 Girls, 1 Cup Reaction Demi Moore Picture

This song takes me back to the good old days of high school, when Nate Dogg performed the chorus of every jam on the radio. Literally. That’s how music got on the radio and how I knew which CD’s to buy. Life was simpler back then. The bass on this jam was/is absolutely stellar. I would listen to it on repeat on my fresh-to-death Sony Discman. That thing had like 20-second ESP. Talk about badass!

Please enjoy this video of Fabolous defining the word “procasterbating”.

Kyle Lucas- Always Sunny in Marietta (Mixtape)

20100302-KYLELUCAS1I found this mixtape yesterday on 2dopeboyz and was instantly intrigued by the title and album artwork because It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is quite possibly my favorite show on TV right now.  After giving it a serious listen last night I was excited to find a new talented up and coming artist.  His name is Kyle Lucas and he is a part of a band called Vonnegutt while residing in Marietta, Georgia.  Vonnegutt is signed to Big Boi from Outkast’s label, Purple Ribbon Records.  Right off the bat that is a pretty heavy co-sign for me because Outkast is easily in my top five of all time.  The mixtape takes on a variety of different tracks, from Tupac and Beanie Sigel beats to Mike Posner, Metro Station, Maroon 5 and even tackles a  David Guetta song.  But what really got me hooked in was the first song after the intro, because it has the theme song from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia sampled into it (Dope).  Definitely worth a listen all the way through so D/L it, keep an open mind, and as always enjoy…

Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake- Carry Out (Aviators Remix)

71747973AJ017_2006_MTV_VideI saw this song a couple days ago on True To Sound but just kind of skipped over it because I am not a fan of the original version.  But today I decided to give it a shot and it is pretty dope.  I have never heard of Aviators before but this remix sounds super good.

Snoop Dogg- That Tree (Feat. Kid Cudi) (Clockwork REMIX)

485An epic remix of the song from Cudder and Snoop Dogg that was released a week or two ago.  Definitely turns that song into more of a party record.  P&P with the find.
