The Knocks – Brightside (Official Video)

The Knocks’ first music video since signing to A&M/Octone Records comes in the form of “Brightside”.

First reaction: The main dude serving as The Knocks’ food bitch deserves an Oscar for this performance.

Second reaction: Hold the phone. Did my flyer for The Chuckness’ first event just make an appearance? Like an extended appearance at the 1:25 mark??? This could potentially be the pinnacle of the site’s existence right here. Sure, the flyer gets about 2 seconds of airtime — but where I’m from, that’s certified fame.

Bon Iver, Adele, Kanye West Lead 2012 Grammy Nominations

The nominations for the 2012 Grammys were officially announced just a few minutes ago. The cutoff date for the material was September 30th, 2011, so some recent albums aren’t eligible (i.e. Drake’s Take Care). I’m not entirely sure that people still actually care about the Grammys, but I do know that the nominations for Album Of The Year are some of the least deserving cop-outs I’ve ever seen, outside of Adele’s 21. The British girl with the golden pipes obviously has that award locked up, but click “Read More” to take a look at some of the other categories and pick your winners.

Album of the Year:
Adele – 21
Foo Fighters – Wasting Light
Lady Gaga – Born This Way
Bruno Mars – Doo-Wops & Hooligans
Rihanna – Loud

Jhameel – Waves

First off, it’s guaranteed this dude is gonna be huge strictly based off the mysterious vibe he has going on in the picture above. I don’t think anybody knows what he’s going for with this photo — in between the black paint over one eye and the 3 cat-like streaks on his cheek, it’s tough to tell. That being said, that’s what the people love these days. The people love confusion and weird get-ups. If you have catchy music to go on top of that, you’re pretty much guaranteed a slot on the Billboard chart.

“Waves” is oddly striking as soon as the piano gets going, and even more so when we’re introduced to Jhameel’s bizarrely captivating vocals. Apparently he’s in the midst of giving away a song a week over on his website — from here on out, I’ll definitely be checking in to see what he’s bringing to the table.

Y LUV – Keep It Rollin

Earmilk just found me a potentially new favorite band. Granted we’re basing this off one song, but “Keep It Rollin” has everything I’m looking for right now.

Y LUV consists of a handful of USC students that came together to establish their own musical style. “Keep It Rollin” nabs bits and pieces of a few popular bands at the moment (I’m getting a pretty heavy Phoenix vibe, Earmilk senses Foster The People), and mixes them together into one, concrete, infectious sound. Sign me up.

Avicii – Levels (Official Video)

For whatever reason, the biggest electronic song of 2011 just managed to get an official video…and it’s atrocious. Where’s my production value Avicii??? You’re not even in the video bro. For a song as huge as “Levels”, I wanted some Michael Bay car chases, a couple helicopters blowing up, toss in a handful of models on $40 million yachts. Something other than this goober prancing around his shitty office. Fahk.

Childish Gambino – Hearbeat (No Pets Allowed Remix)

My favorite remix of the past 24 hours comes in the form of this No Pets Allowed re-work of “Heartbeat”. Jimbo discovered this last night, and I’m gonna go ahead and beat him to the punch with the post. The original has somewhat of a dubstep-influenced beat, so doing a remix like this doesn’t come off as drastic or unnecessary. Additionally, the womp womp womps aren’t overwhelming or out of control by any means — rather they’re melodic and play off of the original song perfectly. Check it out for yourselves below, and pick up Camp if you’re still missing out.

Rebecca & Fiona – Dance

Rebecca and Fiona,

I like what you’re doing here. As usual, I’m into the whole “We’re Swedish and we make no-nonsense, captivating electro-pop jams” vibe that your country seems to live by. I’m a full supporter. After performing a little non-creepy Google image search on you two, and ripping through your latest album on Spotify, I think we have the potential to be best friends. Let me know if you feel the same.

Love,

Chuck

Hilltop Hoods (feat. Sia) – I Love It

Jimbo initially brought this to my attention the other day, and for good reason. Hilltop Hoods are an Australian hip-hop trio coming out of Adelaide, South Australia. For the first single off of their upcoming sixth studio album, they’ve recruited some help from fellow Aussie babe Sia. Her painfully catchy chorus, along with the top notch production, is what separates “I Love It” from the competition. I mean — I don’t think there’s that much competition in the Australian hip-hop market, but I could be wrong (if I am, hit me with another recommendation). Regardless, this is a jam and needs to appreciated as such.

Shoutout to Hilly Dilly.

Jay-Z & Kanye West Perform @ Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Lately, at every stop on their tour, Kanye & Jay-Z have been performing “N*ggas In Paris” an obnoxious amount of times. We’re talking 5 times in Miami, 6 times in Boston, and 7 times in Detroit. For no particular reason. Tonight they stopped by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to do…one rendition.

Semi-hysterical to see models and fashion big-wigs go gorillas to this.

Watch The Cradle.

Deadmau5/Nokia 4D Projection in London

So yeah, this happened yesterday.

On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phonehttp://nokia.ly/uBVXxw brought deadmau5 and the world’s most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London.

Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the “future of live events” the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance — adding the 4th dimension.
