Avicii/The Knocks – Dancing With Avicii (Captain Cuts Mix)

Continuing with the Avicii trend, B-Roc just sent over this glorious mash-up of The Knocks’ own “Dancing With The DJ” fused with “Levels”, and it’s yuuuge. Captain Cuts are the dudes behind the creation, and if it’s any indication of what they do in their live DJ sets, I’m finding a way to their next show immediately.

The Hype Machine gets off to mash-ups, so sit back and watch this break the top 10 within the next day.

Avicii – Levels (Official Promo Teaser)

We all know Avicii’s “Levels” has been the biggest electronic track of 2011, I don’t really think that’s up for grabs. If it is, please place your competition in the comments section. Then re-watch the footage from his shows around the world, listen to the crowd belt out the song, and rethink your efforts.

What’s crazy is the fact that the jam hasn’t even been officially released yet. Within the next couple of days, it’s being rolled out on iTunes across the world — for the amateurs that somehow were able to dodge it this summer. I’m not sure how much faster this Swede can rise to superstardom, but we’re in the midst of witnessing the process.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – And We Danced (Official Video)

Annnnd these dudes are goons. The official visuals for “And We Danced” prove to the world that Macklemore is a legend in the making, and he’s beyond comfortable with it. For those of you that are used to him rapping about serious issues a la “Otherside”, this will be a nice change of pace.

One Room – I Want You

Alright, I’ve been getting requests to post this from all parties, but I wanted to figure out some background information before I did so. Let’s get into it.

This track is a mystery, plain and simple — and if you follow music blogs, you’ll notice it’s been getting a ton of love recently. Following The Weeknd’s marketing campaign, there is nothing about One Room available on the internet, other than a boring Twitter account and the video above. Nobody knows who exactly the artist is. The Knocks keep tweeting and throwing Facebook status updates left and right about it, and Earmilk claims that One Room = The Knocks, but I’m calling them out, because it’s not accurate.

First off, the vocals sound nothing like either JPatt nor B-Roc (collectively The Knocks). There’s no chance in hell that B-Roc sounds like that (I don’t think he really sings…), and it doesn’t sound like JPatt in the slightest. That doesn’t mean that the NYC duo didn’t have a hand in the production however. Is it someone in their Heavy Roc Music camp? Let’s go down the line and see who’s in their crew. They roll with Alex Winston, up-and-comers St. Lucia, and Samuel (the dude behind “I Love NY”). This is a pretty easy process of elimination, considering we’re only working with three acts; but I’m confident in saying that the song isn’t by anyone in their current camp. One Room is currently unknown to the music world, but he won’t be for long.

To get extra CSI with it, the zoomed-in shots of the faces in the video look eerily similar to B-Roc (he denies it’s him…) and Samuel. Clearly they’re having some fun with the mysterioso marketing campaign, and it’s working.

Final conclusion: One Room is a new member of Heavy Roc Music, coming out of the Lower East Side in NYC. “I Want You” is the only track we know from him. The Knocks probably had something to do with the production of the track in some way, shape or form. Those are B-Roc and Samuel’s faces in the video…well, at least Samuel’s. I am a motherfucking detective.

Washed Out – Call It Off

Washed Out’s debut studio album Within and Without surprised everyone back in July. The semi-bizarre, new wave, surfer vibe was something that a lot of people connected with, and it’s easy to see why. “Call It Off” serves as a B-side track for the official release of “Amor Fati” — and it maintains the same zoned-out qualities that have lead to his success thus far. If you’re into the new wave genre and Washed Out, this is obviously up your alley.

Bastille – What Would You Do? (City High Cover)

Gotta be honest, I didn’t see starting this week with a cover of City High’s “What Would You Do?”. Then again, I didn’t really see a London-based electro-pop duo attempting a cover of the 2001 smash. It sounds absurd, but there’s a reason that they’re sitting pretty at the top of The Hype Machine’s popular charts.

Avicii – ID (Preview)

Happy weekend world. Looks like Avicii’s got another one. Here’s a 2:40 preview of his upcoming flamesauce known as “ID”. It has the Avicii flare, there’s no question. It’s borderline ridiculous how global this dude has become in such a short amount of time. The takeover is in full force.
