Star Slinger – Jet Jam Mixtape #1

Star Slinger has a serious cult following. He looks like some kind of earthy geologist, but he makes these dynamite glitchy remixes that people swoon over. My first encounter with him came via his remix of Alex Winston’s “Sister Wife”, and then I was fully sold when I got my ears on “May I Walk With You?”. His music taste and remix resume are outrageously diverse, so I wasn’t surprised in the slightest to see him putting out a little hip-hop mixtape. The tape goes back and forth between his personal remixes and underground hip-hop jams, and I’ve been listening to it straight through with no concept of time. If you have some minutes to kill, press play on this guy below.

Justice – On’N'On (Ruined By Rick Rubin)

World famous producer Rick Rubin sarcastically proclaimed that he “ruined” this track from Justice in his official remix. Which is funny, because it’s sarcasm. If you listen to any form of music, you’ve crossed paths with Rick Rubin before. Do yourself a favor and check out his resume. Once you’re done there, give his little Justice remix a listen below.

Maison & Dragen – Rio De Janeiro (Radio Edit)

These jabronis need to step up their photography game a bit here — but damn this track has some potential. By potential, I mean that it’s got the X-factor to rip through college campuses on a grand scale — and that’s all anybody really cares about these days right? Too catchy for words.

Anyways, this Finnish duo is on the up-and-up in the progressive house/electro world, and this track is the perfect demonstration of their talents. Available on Beatport for purchase.

Adventure Club – Do I See Color

Adventure Club own the rights to one of my favorite remixes of the past few years — their take on James Vincent McMorrow’s “We Don’t Sleep”. To this date, their realm hasn’t gone outside the lines of the remix game, but they’ve just graced us with their first piece of original work. “Do I See Color” is an impressive couple of minutes of glitchy electronic music — and it’s found it’s way into a consistent part of my library. Check it out below.

Bon Joviver – You Give Love A Bad Name

So this has been making all the rounds on the world wide interwebs today, and for good reason. Creativity defeats all. Kinda wish we had the whole song to work with here — but it’s hysterical and awesome nonetheless.

Chairlift – I Belong In Your Arms

The Brooklyn duo known as Chairlift is back with their sophomore full-length album, Something. I haven’t had the chance to get my hands on the album in it’s entirety yet, but “I Belong In Your Arms” is all I need to know that it’ll be worth picking up. Co-written by our favorite party-starters The Knocks, the track serves as the perfect city walk-around song. You know those tracks that are just ideal for putting on full blast and cruising around the city on your two feet? This one fits the bill.

Stream below, and pick it up as the current iTunes free single of the week.

Rusko – Somebody to Love

Rusko officially released his new single “Somebody to Love” from his upcoming album Songs in stores today. It just has that classic Rusko vibe that we all love – no two ways around it. Great vocals, catchy piano intro, and that signature Rusko drop. Just enough womp to satisfy seasoned dubsteppers but it’s not overkill. As a bonus, the single includes the Sigma remix of “Somebody to Love”. Pick up the single on Amazon or on iTunes.

Miike Snow (feat. Lykke Li) – Black Tin Box

Miike Snow’s upcoming sophomore album Happy To You is right at the top of my most anticipated listens of 2012. We’ve gotten two early listens so far, in the form of “Devil’s Work” and “Paddling Out”, and their camp just released a stream of their collaboration witih indie darling/fellow Swede Lykke Li. “Black Tin Box” isn’t going to jump out at you and demand to be your new favorite song — but I have a feeling that it’ll fit in perfectly with the surrounding songs on the album. We’ll see on March 27th.

Sleigh Bells – Comeback Kid (Official Video)

If I were given the job of filming a Sleigh Bells video, I’m pretty sure I’d try to make it as unorthodox and bizarre as possible. That’s pretty much what’s happened with the “Comeback Kid” video, and it fits the band perfectly. I really can’t think of a better image to sum up what Sleigh Bells is about then lead-singer Alexis Krauss jumping up and down on a bed while wielding a massive rifle.

Their follow-up album Reign Of Terror drops February 21st.

Gym Class Heroes (feat. Neon Hitch) – Ass Back Home (Brenton Duvall Remix)

It’s been a bit since we’ve heard from the D.C. native, but last night out of the blue he dropped a little remix bomb on our domes. Gonna be honest, normally I would pass on anything Gym Class Heroes related, but I can kind of get down with Neon Hitch — then when you add the Brenton Duvall flare in there then I’m good to go. A little project from Brenton coming in the future? That’s the word.
