This is pretty buckwild. George Monev had an inkling one day to reverse the chords in the most popular dance track of 2011, and the result is refreshing as hell. This track’s been floating around the blog scene for the past couple of days, with a ton of speculation around it. Is Avicii involved? Is it just Nervo? The most hyped New Years event this year was hands down Avicii live at Pier 94 in New York City. Somehow, my legendary cousin managed to sneak in, and he confirmed that it was absolute mayhem. For whatever reason, the biggest electronic song of 2011 just managed to get an official video…and it’s atrocious. Where’s my production value Avicii??? You’re not even in the video bro. For a song as huge as “Levels”, I wanted some Michael Bay car chases, a couple helicopters blowing up, toss in a handful of models on $40 million yachts. Aylen and ThatMoment are a couple amateur DJs/producers out of New Jersey with veteran sound. They’re able to give this track a nice dubstep feel while honoring the original version of Avicii’s “Don’t Give Up On Us”. They didn’t just squeeze in as many WOMPS as possible and call it a dubstep remix, as it seems so many amateur producers are prone to do. Give it a spin. Continuing with the Avicii trend, B-Roc just sent over this glorious mash-up of The Knocks’ own “Dancing With The DJ” fused with “Levels”, and it’s yuuuge. Captain Cuts are the dudes behind the creation, and if it’s any indication of what they do in their live DJ sets, I’m finding a way to their next show immediately. The Hype Machine gets off to mash-ups, so sit back and watch this break the top 10 within the next day.
