The Knocks (feat. One Room) – All We Got (Brenton Duvall Remix)

New remix from the dude Brenton Duvall — taking on The Knocks’ “All We Got” off their EP Magic. This isn’t a remix though, this shit is an entirely different song — slowed down, hazy and barely recognizable as that track with Kardinal Offishall off The Knocks’ mini-album. Toss in some help from the One Room mystery men (Samuel and Chris P) and you have something serious. Both are gold in my book. Shoutout to Brenton for being on the Bonnaroo lineup this year — that shit is wild. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Knocks (feat. One … Continue reading

OnCue – Rich Kid (Official Video)

Young talent just seeping out everywhere right here. Brenton Duvall and CJ Luzi absolutely annihilated the production on this one, but we knew this already. Honestly, these rapper/singer combos are a force to be reckoned with — and OnCue is well on his way. This we knew already too. I’m bringing nothing new to the table here — the official video drop is below, so go ahead and hit play on that guy. Tweet

Brenton Duvall – Drake Instrumental Flips

Mr. Duvall just turned 21. In doing so, his gift to the world comes in these two moody, unique takes on Drake’s “Crew Love” and “Doing It Wrong”. Generous as hell. Shout out to the young Drizzy stone-cold Bar-Mitzvah dance. OnCue – Rich Kid (prod. by Brenton Duvall & CJ Luzi)

I’ll let Brenton do the talking on this one. “I sent this shit to OnCue about two months ago. When we were first working with it, it sounded super swaggy. Some Houston x Brooklyn shit. I don’t know what it was really, but I really fucked with the feel of the track. I was sampling this, to begin with. Anyway,  what started out as a quick, fun track eventually evolved into something a whole lot better. Once CJ got his hands on the beat, it really got taken to the next level. This is definitely the best shit I’ve ever been a part of and … Continue reading

Top 3 Songs of 2011: The Artist’s Perspective

I’m getting ready to hit you with the official top 20 of 2011 from my camp, but in the meantime, I thought it’d be interesting to collect brief year-end lists from the perspective of some of my favorite up-and-coming artists. I always like checking out what the artists themselves are listening to. If you dig a musician, you generally dig their musical tastes. Enter Spree Wilson, Brenton Duvall, and Sol. All great artists themselves, with a vast, knowledgeable grasp of what’s happening in music these days. They kindly obliged to the idea and sent over their top three tracks of … Continue reading

OnCue – Can’t Wait (Brenton Duvall Remix)

Brenton Duvall, OnCue, itstheBino — everyone’s friends on the internet! The three linked up recently, as Brenton went in and re-worked OnCue’s track “Can’t Wait” off his latest mixtape. itstheBino went ahead and premiered it today — and the result is below. Nicky Blitz – Summer Sinner (Brenton Duvall Remix)

Been a minute since we’ve heard anything new out of Brenton Duvall’s camp. The DC-based blog All Things Go recently asked Brenton to remix their first signee to ATG Records, Nicky Blitz. Brenton slows down the original “Summer Sinner”, and mixes in some synths with a dose of melodic piano. Certified jamalam, per usual. Brenton Duvall – Phone Rings Goodbye (Long Edit)

It’s been months since we’ve been graced with anything new from Brenton. Out of nowhere he drops a 7-minute, random-ass remix on us. He samples Mike Posner’s “Save Your Goodbye” with a little Jon Brion track (from the Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind soundtrack), and I’m into it. Hit the stream and download below, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday. I’m gonna go punish some more peanut butter Cap’n Crunch and play darts. Back.

That award-winning photograph you see above was taken with my bare hands, and is the reason for the lack of posts to the site lately. It’s from a little place I like to call The Island, way up in northern Maine. No television, no internet, just straight natural beauty. I’ve been spending one week on The Island all 23 years of my life, and while the wheels of the world turn and things endlessly change, there’s a constant magic about this place; because everything stays exactly the same. Every single year you’re treated to the same, unbelievably striking sunset that … Continue reading

Sonny Shotz – I’m Only Twenty (Prod. Brenton Duvall)

Got some new material from Brenton Duvall on our plate, as he samples Frank Ocean’s “There Will Be Tears” and sends it over to Sonny Shotz (from Boston’s own The Dean’s List) to lay down a couple of verses. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Sonny Shotz – I’m Only Twenty (Prod. Brenton Duvall) In other news, everybody get a look at Sonny’s Johnny Cupcakes hoodie; shit is straight vintage. If you haven’t seen it, check out the video after the jump where Levi Maestro kicks it with the founder of Johnny Cupcakes. It’s crazy to see how … Continue reading
