People love lists. Particularly “best of the year” lists. Coldplay’s latest album, Mylo Xyloto, was an unexpected surprise for me. Despite the heat they take for being too emotional, they’ve actually put together one of the more listenable projects I’ve heard from them. One of the highlights is “UFO”, a sleep-inducing, musical Lunesta that shouldn’t be listened to unless going to bed is a feasible option. Professional party-starters by the name of Keljet recognized this, and decided to inject a little pep in the jam to make it their own. Coldplay swung by BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge the other day, and they pulled out a cover of Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ smash “We Found Love”. Get rid of the Calvin Harris electronic beat, and add in Chris Martin’s instantly recognizable vocals, and you have your result. Coldplay swung by Letterman last night to perform their new single “Paradise”. Mylo Xyloto is due out October 24th for all you fanatical Coldplay supporters. I would make a “You know how I know you’re gay” reference, but that shit’s overdone — we’re better than that. Anybody else get abnormally creeped out by Letterman? Goddamn he makes me uncomfortable. Coldplay has unveiled their second single off of their upcoming album Mylo Xyloto, due out October 24th. It maintains the Coldplay sound that everyone is used to; but it doesn’t quite have the “stadium anthem” attraction that some of their other smash hits do. Still, it’s a good listen, and gives you an idea of how their music has evolved since the last album. Tweet

Let’s go ahead and continue with the European/American female pop stars doing radio covers. What else are we gonna do on this glorious Tuesday? Robyn, who took a hold of my fall/winter with “Dancing On My Own”, “Indestructible” and “Hang With Me”, hit the Radio 1 Live Lounge in London and performed her version of Coldplay’s latest radio smash.  She adds a little pop/electronic flair, and the result is better than the original. It was only a matter of time until Coldplay’s new single got the remix treatment. Arguably the largest electro supergroup out there did the honors this time, and give the original the pep it deserved. This is a straight radio rip from the BBC’s Radio One over in London, but it will do until the mastered version is released. Let me know what you think. Here’s another track from Coldplay’s upcoming Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall mini-EP. This is more of the relaxed, sleep-inducing Coldplay, as opposed to the “Viva La Vida” style.
