Slugabed. I don’t even need to know more. Slugabed is the coolest name. Slugabed is pretty much how I felt this morning, but this mix is slowly bringing me out of my haze. Most of it is like, atmospheric dub (if that can be a thing) punctuated by those lovely distorted synths and all those nostalgic video game sounds. Here’s a curveball for you – EA has commissioned Skrillex to make a song exclusively for their upcoming release Syndicate. For those who care, it’s a first person shooter remake of an old classic and it’s due out in February 2012. Personally, I think this is a win-win as long as it’s not overdone. If you’re keeping score, this is the second video game song Skrillex has produced – the first being the Reptile theme song for Mortal Kombat 9 (which is an awesome game). Hit both below. I’ve been waiting for this since I saw Pretty Lights at Lollapalooza (technically I saw him at the Congress Theater after Lollapalooza). He opened with this song and I was instantly hooked. A decent sounding live recording of “I Know The Truth” has been floating around since Bonnaroo, but I wanted clean, crisp studio quality. I’ve been feeling guilty lately, because I’ve been sitting on this album for the last week and I haven’t posted anything about it yet. Nero’s new album Welcome Reality was released on August 15. After listening to the album and seeing Nero live at Identity last Saturday, I can confidently say it is AWESOME. It’s an amazing blend of drum and bass and dubstep that I think will appeal to a large audience. Here’s a great dubstep jam not for the faint of heart. I don’t know much about Dubsidia – the duo hails from Spain and makes some raw dubstep beats. They have an EP out now titled Here Comes Trouble, and are featured on an album coming out 8/15 titled Spanish Ravesolution.
