If you’re anything like me, you’re bumming HARD about not being in the California sun at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival. Thankfully, Coachella has been kind enough to do live streaming of a handful of artists throughout the weekend. If you have not been able to watch these, here’s a quick recap of the past few days. The masked man SBTRKT recently took to one of Frank Ocean’s random releases, and adds his sought after remix touch to the already addictive original. I meant to see SBTRKT live in Boston but never pulled through on tickets — has anyone seen this guy’s live show? Heard it’s unreal — I could do “Never, Never” all day. [Pitchfork] Tweet

Some more Frank for the people. “Whip Appeal” is the second bonus track off of Mr. Ocean’s Nostalgia, ULTRA mixtape, and it just surfaced over the weekend via his Tumblr. Self-proclaimed as “something to drive, or jog to”, “Whip Appeal” is a little more upbeat than what we’re used to from the Odd Future crooner. Frank slowing things down around here with his latest ballad “White”, which will be featured on his crew’s upcoming Odd Future Tape Vol. 2. Not my favorite cut from him, but it doesn’t change my opinion on the guy. Eagerly awaiting his solo release, whenever that may come. Last summer, the former Kinko’s employee released “Thinking About You” to the blogosphere and almost immediately, it solidified his buzz. A few months later he was writing songs for Beyoncé and was featured on two songs off the most anticipated album of the year, Watch The Throne. The weekend’s winding down, so we might as well slow the pace down with a new 1:37 Frank Ocean drop. This is clearly not finished, but as an avid supporter of Mr. Ocean I have a duty to spread this around to the people. Can I spark a little argument for a minute? I realize it’s overdone, but I want to lay to rest the Frank Ocean vs. The Weeknd debate. Granted, they’re two completely different artists — but who do you find yourself listening to more? People love lists. Particularly “best of the year” lists. There’s something about putting a quantitative ranking next to a collection of the year’s entertainment — the people need to know how things match up against each other. To be honest, I was dreading the creation of these rankings. It’s borderline impossible for me to take two albums of completely different genres and try to justify how one is better than the other. British beat-master SBTRKT decided to do a little re-work of Frank Ocean’s infectious “Thinking About You” the other day, and it’s fully welcomed by my ears. The producer’s experimental style is what’s propelled him to the top of the prominent up-and-coming producers list, and he puts that trend on full display in this remix. Tweet

Frank Ocean performed at his first ever solo show the other night in New Orleans, to an entirely sold out crowd. I didn’t know if the Odd Future member’s falsetto was the real deal until I saw this — and it’s the truth.  I mean you can pretty much hear every female member inthe audience drop her panties at the 30 second mark of “Thinking About You”, it’s surreal.
