Gorillaz – On Melancholy Hill

For some reason I haven’t given Gorillaz’ most recent album Plastic Beach the time it deserves.  ”On Melancholy Hill” is the perfect relaxing, Sunday-afternoon jam; it’s exactly what I needed today after an aggressive Saturday night spent with a 70′s funk band, “beer punch” and a chick-pee falafel.  It’s meditation for your ears. Gorillaz – Superfast Jellyfish (and full album stream)

Jimbo wouldn’t stop singing this jam today at work and he’s too lazy to throw it up here so I figured I’d handle it for him.  Don’t be weirded out by the intro to this one (although it’s hard not to be)…it’s definitely worth the listen.  It’s typical Gorillaz, as they continue to walk the fine line between bizarro-world and catchy music.  If a jellyfish were to sing, I’m 99% sure it would sound exactly like this chorus here…feel free to disagree. Gorillaz (feat. Mos Def & Bobby Womack) – Stylo

Gorillaz announced their first single off their upcoming album Plastic Beach today, and as expected, it’s bizarre.  I remember the first time I heard “Feel Good Inc.” and I thought it was weird as hell, but I just kept listening to it until I loved it; and I absolutely loved that jam.  This right here is absolutely nothing like “Feel Good Inc.”  I’ve only given it one spin since I downloaded it, but initially I think it’s beyond weird.  I’m interested to know what you guys think, it’s definitely way out there, but everything Gorillaz record generally is.   The … Continue reading
