T.I.- I’m Back
So the day that Lil Wayne is put in jail T.I. releases his first track after being in jail and getting back into recording. Definitely more of a harder street single that reminds me of the T.I. who gave us “You Don’t Know Me” and “24’s”. I am excited to see what his new album will sound like, which is apparently coming out on August 24th. Enjoy..

Help Pick This College Baseball Legend’s Walk-Up Song
A friend of mine recently hit me up looking for suggestions for his upcoming baseball season’s walk-up song. If you find yourself out of the loop here, the walk-up song is the jam that’s blasted over the speakers as a batter walks to the plate, and it’s arguably the most important facet of a player’s game. It’s representative of the player’s state of mind, and can be utilized as a devastating intimidation factor.
You might be asking yourself, why is this suburban Holy Cross baseball player side by side in a photo with Wale? Not only do they share similar physical attributes, but Matty P. has Wale’s “Nike Boots” as his top walk-up pick right now. If unfamiliar, this is the jam that put Wale on the map outside of D.C.; give it a listen below:

Definitely a solid pick as a walk-up jam, there’s no doubt about it…but I think we can do even better. First of all, this isn’t just an ordinary college baseball player, so we can’t just go with an ordinary jam…Matty P deserves perfection. The kid hit .423 with 7 dingers and 37 RBIs, and he needs a banger to coincide with his dominance.
Hit me with some recommendations in the comment section.
Money To Blow (Xaphoon Jones Remix)

The legend behind Chiddy Bang,Xaphoon Jones, is on the scene again with his wild remixes. Here he takes Birdman, Drake & Lil Wayne’s horrendously popular “Money To Blow” and ices it out. As Tow said previously, prepare yourself for Chiddy Bang’s upcoming EP, which drops later this month.

jj (feat. Lil Wayne) – My Way

Lately, I’ve been utterly EMPTY music-wise. Music blogs all over the place are just throwing filler material up on their sites, and I just haven’t been into any of it. Hence my week hiatus of posting new material. Then the ever so mysterious band “jj” came along with this pure gem of a song. I’ve been listening to their album jj n° 2 for a bit now, and it’s really grown on me. I still have yet to see photographic evidence of what the band looks like; all I know is they’re a trippy, mysterious band out of Sweden that pumps out unbelievably soothing jams with regularity. They’ve been blowing up the blogosphere with new material, hyping their upcoming March release jj n° 3. Check out their most recent leaked track, which uncharacteristically features Lil Wayne. It’s a sweet blend of genres that results in exactly what I need to get me out of my musical depression. Thank you P&P.

Also check out two of my favorite tracks from the band, one is from jj’s album jj n° 2, and the other is a bizarre medley of random songs that jj covers in their own drugged out, relaxed style (one piece of it actually is a part from “My Way”).

Throwback Thursday – 1/7/2010 Edition

Ginuwine – Pony (1993)
After a holiday hiatus, I was back to digging through the archives today looking for any jams that were worthy of an appearance on Throwback Thursday. Ginuwine’s “Pony” was staring me right in the face, and I couldn’t resist. Recorded in 1993, this jam’s beat, which pretty much consists of robotic belches, finds a way to be pure dynamite. On top of that, the lyrics consist of Ginuwine referring to his manhood as his “pony”…and yet the jam is still fire. It’s just one of those beats that when dropped, immediately Houdini’s everyone’s clothes away. I was 6 at the time of it’s release and distinctly remember gettin’ loose to it on my tricycle.

City High – What Would You Do? (2001)
This was the definition of one-hit wonder. City High jumped on the scene in 2001 with “What Would You Do?”, an attempt at an emotional song from the perspective of a stripper…and they were never heard from again. Nobody could take the lyrics seriously, primarily because the chorus was way too catchy to even pay attention to the words. And it’s hard to feel legitimately emotional when you hear lines like, “And his Daddy’s gone//Somewhere smokin’ rock now”. Still an unbelievable banger.

Lil Wayne (feat. Hot Boys & Mannie Fresh) – Shine (2000)
“Shine” came on shuffle the other day, and I was blown away by the difference 10 years has made to Wayne’s voice. Granted it shouldn’t be a surprise with the amount of weed and syrup that passes through his throat, but still I barely recognized him. Regardless, this jam is still one of my favorites of all time. You take the beat that sounds straight out of Super Mario Bros., and combine it with the unstoppable line: “all these karats like ima fuckin vegetarian”, and you have a hit. And I can’t get enough of the Sega Dreamcast reference at 2:40, it’s hilarious that’s what represented your baller status in 2000. Good stuff.

Kevin Rudolf feat. Birdman, Lil Wayne & Jay Sean – I Made It
Found this song this morning on Nah Right, and I was very surprised at how good it is. Kevin Rudolf and Jay Sean both seemed like one hit wonders to me (the jury is still out) but I have found myself listening to this all morning.

Lil Wayne (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Knockout

What in God’s name is this…
Weezy takes what sounds exactly like a Blink 182 baseline, pounds what must have been roughly 14 gallons of codeine-infused purple drank, and does whatever the fuck he wants in the studio. The final product, plus Nicki Minaj, equals “Knockout”. I honestly don’t know what to make of this, I leave it up to you. For some reason I see this jam being enormous, but I don’t know how or why…it just will be. Does this even qualify as music? Why can’t I stop listening to it?
I find it absolutely fascinating that Wayne is 100% serious about this new sound…but then again, if you’ve seen “The Carter Documentary“, it should come as no surprise to anyone…he’s strictly out of his mind.
Off his upcoming album, Rebirth, obviously. P &P with the enlightenment.

Lil Wayne- Drop the World (Feat. Eminem)
Lil Wayne finally got what he wanted (check the 6:30 mark). He got his song with Eminem. Eminem goes off on this one straight Renegade style.

Throwback Thursday: 12/10/09 Edition, Part 2
I thought this week would be a perfect time to throw this song up for Throwback Thursdays considering the Clipse album just dropped. This song was huge back when it first came out and it really put Clipse on the map. The beat is hands down one of my favorites of all time. It’s crazy for me to think that “Grindin” came out in 2001 and it’s been 8 years since my football team would warm-up by rockin this beat on our thigh pads…the suburbs of D.C. were mad hood back then, I swear.

You could never forget about the remix that came out shortly after this song blew up. It’s got Lil Wayne on it back when he was 19 years old and not on his rock bullshit.

Operation Weezy F. Baby
This video is fucking great, I literally almost peed my pants when I first watched it. And who knows this plan could actually work…
“Lil Wayne’s drug stopping capabilities are, in his own words, ‘Rare, like Mr. Clean with hair.’ “
