Lil Wayne Live on MTV Unplugged

Wayne put on a huge show for a small crowd the other night, and it was all caught on camera thanks to MTV Unplugged. With a full band behind him, Wayne rifled through a lot of material from The Carter III, and also tossed in a never-before-heard track off the upcoming Tha Carter IV, titiled “Nightmares At The Bottom”. If you have an hour to kill, hit play and check it out. [via P&P] Tweet

DJ Khaled (feat. Drake, Lil Wayne & Rick Ross) – I’m On One (Karetus Remix)

Came across this dubstep remix today to the most recent hip-hop anthem that’s sweeping the country. I didn’t realize “I’m On One” would have the mass success that it’s actually having; but it just goes to show if you throw Drake on a hook and add in some Wayne and/or Rick Ross, it’s a formula for guaranteed success. This remix completely transforms the song; and honestly I change my mind about it everytime I listen to it — which is why I need you to tell me how it is. It catches me at the beginning, then I just get … Continue reading

Tha Carter IV Pushed Back

No surprise here — we live in the day and age when no album release dates can be taken seriously, and the trend continues with Wayne’s Tha Carter IV. No more June 21st release date. Look for it to hit shelves August 29th now, with a new single being released July 4th. Maybe. Tweet

Lil Wayne – How To Love

Karen Civil just premiered the new single off Lil Wayne’s upcoming Tha Carter IV, annnnnd this one might have some backlash. “6 Foot 7 Foot” was a smash for Wayne fans that appreciate his style of old, which took him to the top. This one right here comes off as exclusively a pop song for the ladies. We’ll see how this one goes over…stream is available below. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] [via] Tweet

The Hood Internet – Slow John (Lil Wayne & Com Truise)

The Hood Internet have been at this mash-up thing for a while now; and somehow they manage to put out material that’s drastically better than other mash-up artists. Here they take Wayne’s “John” and match it up with Com Truise’s “Slow Peels” to create their latest winner. Shout out to the Shout Box for sending me in the right direction. DJ Khaled (feat. Lil Wayne, Drake & Rick Ross) – I’m On One

DJ Khaled is known for yelling his name obnoxiously throughout anything and everything he’s associated with. For a reason unknown, he seems to have turned over a new leaf with his latest track, as he’s eerily silent with the exception of one “DJ KHALED!!!” outburst in the beginning. I’m not sure how he can label this as his track, as he’s not rapping and he didn’t make the beat, but it’s cool. Off his upcoming album We The Best Forever — hit the download below. Lil Wayne – Fly By Night (R3K Remix)

A couple things here. First off, the picture above is when Birdman gave Wayne a casual million dollars in cold cash for his birthday – which I’m having trouble comprehending. Secondly, R3K has a dynamite remix on his hands here. He takes Wayne’s verses from “Swag Surfin” and lays them over the top of a Imogen Heap “Just For Now” sample; resulting in a certified gem. He released a little Cudi/Florence & The Machine remix earlier this week which received a lot of recognition; but I think this track owns it. Check it out for yourself below. Karmin – 6 Foot 7 Foot (Lil Wayne Cover)

Here we go again — Amy and Nick (collectively Karmin) just going in and destroying Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot”. After the whirlwind past two weeks, which consisted of performing on Ellen, endless meetings, and talks with big-time producers (i.e. Timbaland), they decided to drop another video on us all. I still can’t wrap my head around how fast shit fell into place for them since they dropped the “Look At Me Now” cover. The internet is mind-blowing. Oh, and if you haven’t yet — go ahead and enter the contest we got going on for a pair of free … Continue reading

Tha Carter IV Album Cover

Old news as of yesterday. Above is the official, goofy-ass artwork for Wayne’s Tha Carter IV; which has been pushed back to mid-June. Is this gonna outsell Tha Carter III? I doubt it…but we shall see. Tweet

Lil Wayne (feat. Rick Ross) – If I Die Today

Wayne dropped the so-called second single off Tha Carter IV today, and it’s good to see him going back to his roots here. Sounds like something he would’ve put out years ago; which is a good thing in my book. Hit the stream and download below, and let me know what you think.
