*NEW* Wiz Khalifa “Kush & Orange Juice” (Mixtape)

I have been waiting for this tape to come out for a little while now and Wiz dropped it yesterday.  Wiz Khalifa has been blowing up lately with his last mixtape and album creating a huge buzz and selling out shows across the country.  It is pretty crazy that he has built a way bigger following being independent then with a the support of a major label.  This tape is different from anything he has dropped but the same because you never know what type of music Wiz will be rapping on.  The name of the tape comes from Wiz’s … Continue reading

Chiddy Bang – Air Swell (Mixtape)

Chiddy Bang just dropped their newest mixtape, Air Swell, and as usual, it delivers.  Several of the tracks had previously leaked, so unfortunately it’s only got three or four fresh ones that are new to our ears.  Nevertheless, their new jams instantly have taken over my iTunes, and they have me beyond excited for their debut album.  Xaphoon Jones is undoubtedly one of the most talented producers out there, and Chiddy’s flow has gotten consistently better.  They’ve taken the blogosphere by storm, and with their debut album, this duo will officially take over the music industry.  Check out one of … Continue reading

The Notorious XX (Mixtape)

Just came across this mixtape which mashes up Notorious BIG anthems with the debut release from the xx.  I’m still up in the air on this one; the mix of entirely opposite styles is cool at first, but I’m not really sold that it works in this case.  The xx is just way too mellow of a style for BIG to just come out of nowhere and start busting rhymes… I still find myself listening to it though so it’s doing something right.  Check some of the highlights below, and if so inclined, download the entire mixtape.  Props to Nikita. … Continue reading

Justin Taylor – The Prequel (Mixtape)

Justin Taylor sent over his first official mixtape this past weekend, entitled The Prequel.  I’ve tossed up a couple of posts on the site from this up and comer out of New Jersey, but it’s good to finally hear his first official release.  He borrows some beats from indie bands like Ratatat and Empire of the Sun, hip hop moguls such as Jay and Kanye, and he also dabbles in producing his own.  I’m really into his blend of singing and rapping; it works well for him and he definitely has some big things on the horizon.  Here are a … Continue reading

Kyle Lucas- Always Sunny in Marietta (Mixtape)

I found this mixtape yesterday on 2dopeboyz and was instantly intrigued by the title and album artwork because It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is quite possibly my favorite show on TV right now.  After giving it a serious listen last night I was excited to find a new talented up and coming artist.  His name is Kyle Lucas and he is a part of a band called Vonnegutt while residing in Marietta, Georgia.  Vonnegutt is signed to Big Boi from Outkast’s label, Purple Ribbon Records.  Right off the bat that is a pretty heavy co-sign for me because Outkast is … Continue reading

Lupe Fiasco- Enemy Of The State: A Love Story (Mixtape)

Lupe Fiasco dropped this over Thanksgiving and apparently has much more coming soon.  According to LupEND the next mixtape will drop on Christmas Day.  Apparently the fact that Lupe was not on MTV’s Hottest MC’s list really pissed him off, because this shit is dope. Chip Tha Ripper – Feel Good

Mixtapes are awesome, primarily because they’re free.  Sometimes though, I really don’t feel like spending an hour or two going through an artist’s mixtape who I’m not entirely familiar with.  I’d much rather someone do the hard work for me, and just tell me which jams are money and which are a waste of time.  The man behind Pigeons and Planes has done this for me, and thus I immediately was in possession of the best songs off Chip Tha Ripper’s new mixtape.  I’m not that familiar with him, although I know he featured on “Hyerr” off Cudi’s album.  This … Continue reading

Chiddy Bang – The Swelly Express (Mixtape)

We’ve been pushing these guys hard over the past couple of weeks, and today they dropped their official mixtape The Swelly Express.  It’s got all of their gems that we’ve posted before (“Kids” w/ MGMT, “Truth” ft. Passion Pit, etc.), and some nice new material as well. Thanks to Pretty Much Amazing. ““The Swelly Express” is the true story of two college kids (Chidera Anamege and Xaphoon Jones) from Philly who rocked some parties at Drexel and quickly gained the attention of “the industry”.  The music and lyrics were inspired by many boring trips on the Chinatown bus (they have … Continue reading

Lil Wayne – No Ceilings (Mixtape)

The self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” is finally putting down his Robitussin cocktails and getting back to what he does best…he’s just not meant to make a hard rock album let’s be serious.  Just in time before he begins serving his 1 year prison sentence… UPDATE: Official mixtape below with 5 new tracks- Download: Lil Wayne – No Ceilings (Mixtape) Quick standouts: [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Lil Wayne – Run This Town [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Lil Wayne – I Got No Ceilings Tweet

Mike Posner – One Foot Out The Door (Mixtape)

Mike Posner’s sophomore effort was supposed to drop on Thursday, but for some reason the mixtape came out a few days early…definitely not complaining.  Featuring tracks with Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Saigon, etc.  The senior from Duke is set for a huge 2010, with his first full studio album coming out sometime early next year.  He’s also making his TV debut tonight on Last Call With Carson Daly (not sure how the hell he got his own talk-show…)  The mixtape is available to download for free on iTunes U…or just follow this link if it’s easier: Download: Mike Posner – … Continue reading
