CSS (feat. Ratatat) – Red Alert

CSS is a Brazilian electro-rock, five-piece band from Sao Paulo. Apparently CSS stands for “Cansei de Ser Sexy”, which translates in English to “Tired of Being Sexy”. That is all. Thank you Wikipedia. On “Red Alert”, they’ve recruited the ever-popular production duo, Ratatat, to take care of the beat. Not going to lie, there’s no way I would’ve pressed play on this one without knowledge of that feature, but I’m glad I did. The next move is for me to head over to SPIN to stream their new album La Liberación for free. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] … Continue reading

Javelin – Tryouts

I keep returning to this post over at Sunset In The Rearview; it’s just littered with gems. Here is a track that sounds abnormally similar to something Ratatat would put out, which makes it audio gold in my book. Just a great instrumental from start to finish.  If we get a rapper on this beat, we might have a problem. Add it to your library below. Ratatat – “Drugs” & “Neckbrace”

The instrumental super-power Ratatat just dropped two new tracks from their upcoming album LP4, due out this June.  I have yet to be disappointed by a Ratatat track; it’s amazing what they do without any lyrics.  Their album Classics is arguably the greatest driving music of all time.  If you’re going on a lengthy road-trip, Classics is a must.  The beauty of their beats is that they’re catchy and addictive whether or not there’s someone rapping over them.  Thousands of Ratatat remixes are floating around the internet, with today’s top rappers going in over the duo’s synthesized beats; but I … Continue reading

Ratatat/Tupac – Get Money

Out of nowhere, some legend by the name of DJ Tip-Z decided to blend Ratatat with Tupac as if it were natural.  And wouldn’t you know, it sounds beyond natural.  Ratatat just brings the heat with every single one of their beats; the shit is uncanny.  If anybody knows what the Ratatat jam is that’s sampled here, please let me know…I can’t figure it out.  Regardless, it’s dynamite. Justin Taylor (feat. Ratatat) – Why Can’t I Fly

I always make myself available when I see a Ratatat sample, regardless of if I know the other artists involved or not.  In this case, I’ve heard absolutely nothing about Justin Taylor, but he managed to get Ratatat to lay down the background for this track so I figured it was worth a listen.  Apparently this kid is 18 and is building up some steam in the underground music world; definitely not a party-starter, and the hopeful, dreamy lyrics are a bit much, but it’s got a relaxed vibe to it.  Worth a listen in my book.  Spotted over at … Continue reading

Ratatat Remixes

There are tons of Ratatat remixes circulating, all of which are pretty awesome.  Get yourself familiar with these two to give you a little taste. Ratatat – Loud Pipes

Ratatat is an electronic music duo from Brooklyn.  They’ve been around for a while, but I just recently got into them. They feature on a song with Kid Cudi from his upcoming album… pick up their cd “Classics” for a taste of who they are.  Sweet music to completely zone out to.
