The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit)

One of my favorite songs of the summer gets injected with a little dance vibe from none other than DJ Skeet Skeet. The original is still my jam, but now I have two options to choose from…if I’m feeling a little more fired up at the time maybe I’ll go with the Skeet Skeet version. It’s always good to have two different styles of something you love. Give it a go. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit) [via]

Stromae (Feat. Kanye West & Gilbere Forte)– Alors On Danse (Remix)

Just came across this song, and these are exactly the type of random collaborations I love to hear.  I thought this was going to be some sort of mash-up with some old Kanye verses but this sounds like an original collaboration and this song is super dope.  The original song is by a guy named Stromae from Belgium and apparently the original is huge overseas.  I could see this record killing it in clubs very shortly if there is some sort of push behind it from DJs, but who knows.  I don’t think this is a finished track because the … Continue reading

The Pharcyde – Runnin’ (Philippians Remix)

Today’s the day of the remix apparently. The Pharcyde’s track “Runnin” gets a makeover from Philippians, and it’s doing big things for me. For those of you not in the know, The Pharcyde is a hip-hop group that came out of South Central, LA back in the early nineties. The nineties were their hayday, and to be honest, I’m not sure what the hell they’re up to right now. Regardless, this remix is definitely worth adding to your library. AudioDax – Thoughts (Crystal Castles Remix)

I’ve been pretty big on Audiodax in the past, so I was intrigued when I came across this remix over at The Hype Machine the other day. Crystal Castles takes a hold of Audiodax’s “Thoughts”, and gives it a unique, undeniably catchy twist. The result is good on the ears. Give it a listen, and hit the download below. Kanye West (feat. Jay-Z) – Power (Remix)

Kanye was talking rumors of a remix to “Power” dropping soon, but he neglected to mention that Jay-Z would be jumping in on it. Anything Jay touches instantly becomes gold, and this is no exception. Remixes these days generally consist of a new rapper casually tossing in his own verse on a popular beat. This right here isn’t one of those peasant remixes. It sounds like Kanye was just dicking around in the studio and decided to change the song entirely at the 3 minute mark…which works for me. Hit the download below. RockPaperScissors – Reckon A Superstar (feat. Lupe Fiasco, 6th Sense)

A trio of producers known collectively as RockPaperScissors just released their first project, a mixtape dedicated entirely to remixes.  They pretty much take recycled verses from other rappers, and lay them over their own beats.  I haven’t checked out the whole tape yet, but I can tell you that “Reckon A Superstar” is made up of strictly combustible materials (copyrighted by George Hogan).  The shit is pure fire.  It features verses from Lupe’s “Superstar”, some help from 6th Sense, and a little Radiohead sample to top things off.  Big thanks to Pigeons&Planes for this one. Aaliyah – Are You That Somebody? (Brenton Duvall Remix)

Sorry Brenton, gonna have to bypass your photo here in place of the goddess Aaliyah (RIP). The kid out of Maryland adds to his already impressive resume with a unique take on Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody?”.  The dude is just nice at putting his own spin on other people’s songs, it’s as simple as that.  A nice addition to the library. Double Rainbow Mayhem

I’m not even sure how to begin this post. Chuck and I just watched Memento, after watching Inception last night, so I’m pretty sure Christoper Nolan has completely melted our brains at this point. Despite this setback, I am determined to bring you the Double Rainbow experience that has rounded off my evening so well. This youtube pair rivals the greatest remix duo to date: the George Brett shits his pants video and corresponding auto-tune remix. Watch the below video in its entirety: This dude is definitely an Electric Zoo all star. His passion for rainbows is matched only by … Continue reading

Nneka (feat. Nas) – Heartbeat (Remix)

A smooth remix to Nneka’s track off of her most recent album, Concrete Jungle. Nas is one of those rappers that rarely can go wrong, and everything he says instantly sounds like the most important shit ever spoken.  He’s just got that emphasis and passion behind his words that’s hard to define, but if you’re a rapper it’s arguably the best characteristic that you can have.  Add this gem to your library. Brenton Duvall – Go Do (Jay-Z & Jonsi)

Brenton Duvall, the new, up and coming player in the mash-up/remix genre just hit me with his most recent piece of work, “Go Do”.  He takes the smooth Jonsi anthem “Go Do” and splices it up side by side with Jay’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”, and the outcome is straight heat.  I’ve yet to be disappointed by anything this UC-Boulder bro has stirred up, it’s all been gold.  Jonsi and Jay-Z on the same track?  Yes sir.  Add it to the library.
