Wale – Bait (Remix) (Feat. Rick Ross, Two Chains, & Trey Songz)

Looks like Wale decided to make a remix of his go-go inspired smash “Bait”.  I love this original song. Not too much explanation needed, it’s just been a consistent play in my music library and refuses to get old.  This remix on the other hand doesn’t do so much for me.  Either way, the beat cranks and that can not be ignored. Cults (feat. Freddie Gibbs) – Bad Things (Remix)

Over Thanksgiving, my cousin brought me in the loop on a Cults remix that features Freddie Gibbs. If you’re familiar with Cults in any way, shape or form, you’re aware that you couldn’t get further away from their style by incorporating Freddie Gibbs. On paper, the collaboration makes absolutely no sense. When you press play though, you’ll toss aside any form of logical thought, and you’ll accept that this works out flawlessly. Apparently Cults are working on a new hip-hop crossover project that includes tracks like this. I’ll fully welcome that when the time comes. Thanks to Jon G. for … Continue reading

Foster The People – Life On The Nickel (Mansions On The Moon Remix)

Mansions On The Moon always seem to crop up out of the blue with a new, refreshing take on a well known track. That, and their original material has been making waves for months, which is why Pharrell has signed on to help produce their debut album next year. Here, the quartet takes on Foster The People’s “Life On The Nickel”, adds a collection of spacey synths and drums, and transforms the original to fit their style. In a similar vein to “Darkness” and “Glimpse of the Future” — if you’re not in the know, check those two out immediately. … Continue reading

City Rain – Real Good (Remix)

Remember those dudes responsible for the undeniably addictive “I’m Gone” song/video in which they cruise around in the back of their truck with no shirts on in rural Pennsylvania? Yeah, they’re still making jams. Ben from City Rain sent this over my way about 10 minutes ago to get a simple opinion, and all it took was one listen for me to be strangely captivated. City Rain’s original version of “Real Good” is a peppy, new wave track that’s easy on the ears — an electronic remix doesn’t quite come to my mind as something that would work. Regardless, they transform … Continue reading

Big Sean (feat. Kanye West) – Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay (Xaphoon Jones Remix)

We’re all into Xaphoon Jones’ production, that’s not really out there for a debate. Recently, he linked up with DJ Mo Beatz on the official remix album of Big Sean’s Finally Famous. Xaphoon handles the  ”Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay” remix, and completely changes the complexion of the song. He injects the original with some more bass and build-up, giving the song more longevity then it initially did. Go ahead and form your own opinion below, and pick up the entire remix album here. Big Sean (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Dance (A$$) (Remix)

The clear gem off Big Sean’s debut album Finally Famous gets a facelift from Nicki Minaj on the official remix. Minaj goes off in one of the more vulgar verses in recent memory — but it’s suitable for a track titled “A$$”, something she is most certainly not lacking. Hit the stream and download below. Florence + The Machine – Shake It Out (Benny Benassi Remix)

This was bound to happen. The most popular ginger in the game today released her anthemic “Shake It Out” a couple of weeks ago, and the remixes have already begun. The clear-cut winner to date is this gem from Benny Benassi. The original is a thing of beauty, and Benassi builds on that foundation, but then polishes it for the club scene. Here’s a preview of sorts, with the full-length original releasing on the official Shake It Out Remix EP (due out 10/2). Interesting enough, acclaimed R&B crooner The Weeknd has a remix of his own appearing on the EP as … Continue reading

Friday Afternoon Bangers (Pilot)

Despite my busy day today, I couldn’t leave you all with only one post on a Friday. Here are a few new-ish jams I’ve had on repeat to keep me excited for the weekend. Hope you enjoy. Sebastian – Love In Motion ft. Mayer Hawthorne (Skrillex’s Funkt-Out Mix)

Sebastian (born as Sebastian Akchoté) is a French DJ and producer who has been around for a while, but we’ve yet to introduce him here on The Chuckness. I was able to catch the end of his set at Electric Zoo and definitely enjoyed what I heard. I don’t love the original version of “Love In Motion” but it’s worth checking out so you can appreciate the differences. Skrillex sped it up a little bit, made the vocals cleaner, and just gave it more energy in my opinion. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Sebastian – Love In … Continue reading

Mord Fustang – Magic Trooper (OVERWERK Remix)

Mord Fustang is an Estonian DJ and producer whom I don’t know much about. B-Rob brought him to my attention this summer, and if you haven’t heard of Mord I recommend you check out “The Electric Dream” by him. OVERWERK is the solo project of Canadian Edmond Huszar – you should recognize the name if you’ve ever heard of The Girls Can Hear Us, as he was solely responsible for producing all their songs. OVERWERK is influenced by his favorite group Daft Punk, and if you have a sharp ear you can hear him briefly mix “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” … Continue reading
