Common (feat. John Legend & Fashawn) – Strange Fruit (Remix)

Apologies to everyone for the lack of updates lately. The holidays took over my world, and the blog game suffered a bit. Just got back from a nice little New Year’s celebration down in The Poconos with some old college friends, where Phil the Flabongo made himself famous. I’m thinking Phil and Flabongos everywhere might have to become associated with the site somehow…gonna start working on that. In other news, I got a new Macbook Pro on my hands too, so expect the blogging levels to increase exponentially. Here we have a new track from Common, and he grabs John Legend … Continue reading

Amaduo & Mariam – Sabali (Miike Snow Remix)

Nas and Damian Marley sampled this original track in “Patience”, from their collaborative album released earlier this year…and at the time, I had no idea what it was. Do yourself a favor and hit the Wikipedia page for Amaduo & Mariam…they have a ridiculous story, and it’s cool to see them having success. Long story short, they consist of an older couple from Mali, who met at Mali’s Institute for the Blind. Gotta be the first musically successful blind couple from Mali in the history of mankind. Anyways, hit Miike Snow’s remix to “Sabali” if you’re in the mood for … Continue reading

The Streets – Blinded By the Light (Nero Remix)

After seeing Jimbo’s post when I woke up this morning it reminded me of all the Nero remixes I have floating around in my iTunes library…for some reason they just haven’t been posted yet.  Above is a picture of the British artist, The Streets, and a couple months back Nero released a remix of his song, “Blinded By The Light”.  Nero is easily my favorite dupstep artist.  Like many other people I have a love/hate relationship with dupstep, but just about every song or remix that Nero puts out gets a lot of play in my library.  His style is … Continue reading

N.E.R.D. feat. Daft Punk – Hypnotize You (Nero Remix)

Nothing you wouldn’t expect from me at this point. Just another awesome remix from Nero, with N.E.R.D. and Daft punk laying the groundwork. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: N.E.R.D. feat. Daft Punk – Hypnotize You (Nero Remix) Tweet

5oh!- Home Alone (Christmas Dubstep Remix)

For those of you who would like to enjoy some dubstep over the holidays without ruining the Christmas vibe, throw this filthy jam on.  When I first saw the track description for this remix by 5oh! I thought there was absolutely no way in hell it would be easy on the ears.  To my surprise this DJ from the UK took the song from Home Alone, added some wamps, and the result is a dirty dubstep track that gives you some holiday cheer.  Check out 5oh!’s Facebook and Soundcloud pages to hear more music as well as learn more about … Continue reading

Throwback Thursdays: Random Edition

Today I felt inspired to drop a random Throwback Thursday post for a couple reasons.  For one, it’s been way too long since we’ve dropped a Throwback Thursday post, and secondly a Guest in the shoutbox posted a link to a dope video of a guy playing 2Pac’s “Changes” on the violin.  A super cool video of one of my favorite songs.  This was the jam back in middle school; there’s no denying it. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: 2Pac- Changes Then another random throwback track that really has no relationship with the video or song above, … Continue reading

Potomac Boys Club (Brenton Duvall & Patrick McKelvy) – Lights! (Ellie Goulding/Waka Flocka/Wale)

I received this new track last night from Brenton Duvall and a counterpart of his, Patrick McKelvy. Brenton’s been taking the remix game by storm the past few months, and it appears he’s enlisted the help of one of his boys from home on this one. As we all know, Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” is one of my favorite tracks of the year, so I got all amped up when I saw Brenton was taking it on. Add in a little Waka Flocka and a verse from Wale, and you have yourself an illogical gem. Hit the stream and download below. … Continue reading

The xx – You’ve Got The Love (Theophilus London Remix)

Theophilus London jumps on The xx’s “You’ve Got The Love” to create one of the better tracks I’ve heard recently. It’s a perfect blend of two distinct styles, and has me wondering why artists like this don’t get together more often. If Theophilus London can just jack The xx’s beat and turn it into something this listenable, then you should be able to put both acts in a studio and come up with something special. Hit the stream and download below. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The xx – You’ve Got The Love (Theophilus London Remix) [via] … Continue reading

Axwell & Dirty South – Sweet Disposition

Last night, nominations to the 53rd Grammy awards were announced. To my surprise, Axwell & Dirty South’s remix of Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” was nominated for best remix. Im stoked to see both of these producers get some recognition for their musical talent. This track is without a doubt, one of the hottest tracks of the year. Its hard to imagine that neither Axwell nor Dirty South wanted this remix to get released, as they thought “it was shit.” [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (Axwell & Dirty South Remix) Tweet

Johnny Polygon (feat. Kid Cudi) – Riot Song (The Soundmen Remix)

A smooth track right here that takes the a little taste of Johnny Polygon, Cudi and The Soundmen, and stirs them together into one. Johnny Polygon is looking to make a splash in the new year, and working with Cudi is generally a solid way to generate some buzz. Good call on his part.
