Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem

Skrillex has been occasionally dropping this one at his live shows — and today Damian Marley let go of the studio version. Loyal ‘bro-step’ followers everywhere rejoice! With The Doors, Ellie Goulding and Damian Marley under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see who’s next in Skrillex’s collaboration efforts. Who’s in for Holy Ship! 2013? Tweet

Skrillex (feat. Sirah) – Kyoto (Dotcom Moombahton Bootleg)

DJ B-Rob absolutely despises the fact that moombahton is a musical genre — which I find hysterical. No way in hell I could listen to something like this a year ago — but for whatever reason my horizons have broadened and I can get down with a Dotcom moombahton bootleg. Do me on it. Skrillex – Pop Dance (Challenger)

Skrill what the fuck bro. Just swooping in under the radar and snatching my favorite girl of them all. I haven’t written on their newfound romance yet because frankly, there’s nothing to say. Nobody understands it. It’s entirely incomprehensible. Ellie runs like 19 miles a day. Skrillex chainsmokes cigarettes. Ellie’s an undeniable babe with a British accent and the voice of a Roman goddess. Skrillex has arguably the most rancid head of hair in the business and a set of creepy ass thumbs (what up Skrill and Jimbo on Holy Ship). Yet when the two come together, they make captivating, … Continue reading

Skrillex – My Goodbye

Everyone watch The Grammys last night? Everyone hear Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) drop “Sweet hook-up” after taking home Best New Artist? Everyone see Nicki Minaj’s mentally unstable performance? Fantastic. Other than Adele, I don’t think anyone had a bigger night then Skrillex, as he raked in three Grammys. He took home Best Dance Recording for “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites”, Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical) for Benny Benassi’s “Cinema” (Skrillex Remix), and the biggest of the them all, Best Dance/Electronica Album for Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites. A clip of this new track “My Goodbye” surfaced today — so give … Continue reading

Skrillex – The Unlikely Face Of The Grammy’s

Everybody knows the Grammy’s are a miserable representation of music, but this commercial right here is a 30 second definition of how huge 2011 was for Skrillex, and all of electronic music in general. I used to bump “With You, Friends” randomly before work last winter (remember this story??) — but I really couldn’t handle anything else on Skrillex’s EP, it was too aggressive and bizarre for me. Fast-forward 12 months, he’s the face of the Grammy’s in a 30-second ad spot, and I’ve been turned into a certified fan. There is no one in the music world that had … Continue reading

Skrillex (feat. The Doors) – Breakin’ A Sweat (Official Video)

This one lit shit on fire on Holy Ship — everything was ablaze. It’s still weird to me that The Doors hopped on board with this. Gotta love illogical collaborations though. Tweet

Skrillex (feat. Ellie Goulding) – Summit

A few things to cover here. First off, it’s wild to see our babe Ellie Goulding jumping on Skrillex jams — but I couldn’t say I didn’t see this coming. Her vocals are perfect for the electronic movement that we find ourselves in the middle of. Secondly, Skrillex released a new EP last Friday titled Bangarang – with 8 new tracks that can all be picked up courtesy of Steve Jobs. “Summit” is the final version of “Breathe”, which leaked a few days/weeks ago — and he’s tossed in a quick verse from Ellie for good measure. Finally, I’m not sure … Continue reading

Skrillex – Breathe

Brand new Skrillex for your virgin ears — and this one might mark a new step for the dubstep overlord. For anyone expecting some ferocious dubbed out womp drop, it never happens in “Breathe”. Instead, it’s more of a progressive, borderline laid back, electro jam. He still uses a similar sampling style with the vocals, but the production itself is entirely unlike anything we’ve heard from him. I was never one for earth-shattering dubstep drops, so this is accepted with open arms in my camp. Jimbo on the other hand is most likely borderline tears. UPDATE: Removed via Atlantic Records. … Continue reading

Avicii – Levels (Skrillex Remix)

I’m off to DC for the weekend, but I’m gonna leave you with this little bucket of WOMP to enjoy before you go out tonight. Christ almighty. I feel bad for the person sitting next to me on this plane. Consider this my preliminary apology. Shout out to AC for sharing this beauty via the newsfeed. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: Avicii – Levels (Skrillex Remix) Tweet

Skrillex (Feat. The Doors) – Breakin’ A Sweat

Chuck mentioned in his most recent post about the “RE:GENERATION” documentary that Skrillex would be a part of the project.  Here we have the song he put together while working with none other than the remaining members of The Doors.  This collaboration kind of set me back a bit when I first saw it.  It’s a bizarre concept, to say the least.  I’m not the biggest fan of the track — the vocals are a little off-putting…but the collaboration is so left field that I keep listening to it.  Definitely would have been even more interesting if the legendary Jim … Continue reading
